HM Turbo problems

HM turbo kit waste gate on a D800 is a pain to get to. E-clips are breaking constantly. What would make them break..they all have worn spots after a day on the three edges..left right and center. The first one on it from HM was too big and blew out within a few hours. Smaller ones (heavy duty, last a day or two. You can not get them in by yourself on the snow. Even with two people they are a pain as the waste gate is not in a user friendly place. Now have an e-clip tool that takes trying it for an hour to less than a minute. Unfortunatly riding partners are getting tired of constant clip breakage and repair every time this sled goes out on the snow. 8lbs of boost. Is there anoption as to the type of controller/eclip setup that one could use??

I thought HM used an aero ther is no wast gate on an aero,, Is he now using an external wast gate????? or are you talking about a blow off

i dont use the HM Turbo setup, but do have an Aero 66 on mine. I have not had a clip break, and have over 500 miles on mine. Do you have the little tiny washer in back of the diaphram? This video on youtube was very helpful to me. It is about how to adjust the vaines on this turbo, but also shows the tiny washer i referred to. Maybe you know this already, but just thought i would pass it along if you didnt.

If the link above doesnt work, type in "Aerocharger Boost Controller" in the search field on www.youtube.com and you can watch it from there.

Hope this helps.

You are working with a vane controller-not a wastegate. We've got a couple seasons on HM's kits without any of the issues you are fighting-its possible your vane control rod isn't centered properly in the diaphragm bore which may be putting undue stresses on the clip from mis alignment...give us a call or stop by the shop if you are ever down south of Seattle-we'd be happy to give you some support.
I'm a firm believer in these setups and am happy to help!

yes Curt...no external waste gate of course. The e-clip on the back of the controller diaphram keeps snapping.
