HJC, Troy Lee, Bell Moto-8, Fly Lite Questions

Looking for some opinions on a new helmet. I have been out of the sport for a while and am updating some of my gear. I am switching to an open-faced helmet for the first time. I have already decided to go with the 509 goggles (got them today), but am stuck on which helmet I want. I realize the best bet is to go try on a bunch and see what fits, but I don't have that option in my area. Our dealership sucks. They did have a couple of HJC CL-X5's that I could try on. The XL seemed to fit good once I had it on, but is really tight pulling it over my ears. Is this normal for motocross helmets? I am considering either going with a HJC Carbon Titan (can't seem to find one on too much of a sale yet though), a Troy Lee, a Bell Moto-8 (finding some sweet deals on these), or a Fly Lite. Any thoughts on which of these is prefered, especially which one seals the best with the 509's. Any pluses or minuses to any of these. Also, how do they compare for size. Is a XL HJC the same as an XL Fly Lite? Thanks for the help.

if it tight without a facemask it only going to get tighter. But I've always been a fan of HJC. I have the CL-X5 and I really like it but there are lighter ones out there.

I personally really like HJC. I have had nothing but good luck with them. I've got a clx-4, ac-x2, and a clx-5. I like the ac-x2 the best by far. It is very light, and small framed. it also fits a little looser in the cheeks.

I have been wearing HJC's for about 8 years and I think they are a well built helmet. Hell I just ordered a Ac-X3 carbon titan today and I can't wait to try it out!

The CLX-4 and 5 seem to run bigger than the AC-X3 series. With the CLX-5 I wear a large and with the AC-X3 I wear a medium.

yea imo for the price the clx-5 is the best around or any other hjc at that. and it might feel a bit tight at first but the pads will break in and when you put it on your head grab the straps and pull it apart to slip on much nicer.

I know you didn't list this helmet earlier, but have you considered the new Klim helmet?

I had ruled the Klim out because of all of the posts on here about the 509 goggles not fitting right with that helmet. I am basically looking for which helmet has a good fit with the 509's and is light. Thanks for your help.
