Historical aerial photos

More hints needed?

The road in the old aerial photo is still used today and maintains the same alignment.

The area was heavily clear cut in the 1960s. That may not be evident to someone driving or snowmobiling on the road today but is quite evident from a modern aerial view.

It is between the Yakima Indian reservation and the White pass Highway.

Those lakes dry up.

I ride there every year except for maybe last year. Not enough snow.
There is a small snow park at the beginning of that road and a large snow park for that road across the street back in the trees.

Okay here's one more. Someone familiar with the Ahtanum should be able to answer this. Where in the aerial photo is the cabin located? If you know where it is and can interpret the old photo you can actually zoom in and see it there in 1949.

Here's the Historical Aerial Photo project web site if you want to download the original photo to your computer and zoom in closer. http://www.gis.cwu.edu/geog/historical_airphotos/

Okay, can you crop in to that location on the aerial Photo?

Edit: The photos I upload to the forum get reduced so cropping just makes a blurry picture. Anyhow, just curious to see if people can interpret the old photos without the aid of google earth.

Here's the two cabins...Both still standing right in the center of these zoomed in sections of the 1949 photo. These are from the original photo I downloaded to my computer. It's not google earth quality but very interesting to compare the changes in timber, road building etc.
