Hey MySpace users----I have a question

My niece has a couple of MySpace accounts that she created a few years ago, that show her partying, and doing other things that a potential employer would automatically disqualify her for in her quest to get her first job out of college.

She claims that she has not been to the site for a few years and she does not know her passwords to any of the accounts. Obviously she wants to get these "profiles" taken off the site, but she cannot get into the profiles because of no passwords.

I told her to write the customer service and identify the profiles and have them taken off. I am helping her try and do this and I do not see any phone number you can call and talk to someone.

I am not a "MySpacer" and do not know the site at all. I am asking those that are to assist me with advice to get these taken off the site ASAP.

She had no idea, until I told her, that employers look at MySpace and Facebook as part of their background checks. If an employer looked at her profiles, they would not be happy as to what they see..........

Any advice?

Assuming that she knows her email address that she used, go to Myspace homepage and type in the login area her email(that is your sign in name) type in random password or whatever, and when it comes up denied, it should give you the option of request your password. They will email the password to the email address you signed up with(assuming you still use it and know the passwords for the email)

That should work for you...

Hawk:

She does not have any of the email addresses she used when she went in and signed up. Nor does she even know what they were back then......

Hero:

Like a dumb@ss, she used her real name, and put alot of profile information on there as well. I was friggin shocked when I looked at it. She could be found in a minute if some pervo wanted to find her.........

Ummm yeah... Im going to need her name and phone number... :D

Seriously though how do you forget the email addresses you signed up under, if she had those it would be too easy to shut it down... maybe its time for a little social engineering to remember the emails addresses

Have her do a search for her name. If she can't find it, then I wouldn't worry about it. If she can find them, can you tell they are her?

Either way for a background check she should just be honest about her past history. In most situations they don't care what you have done as long as you are honest about it, and if it is something that would disqualify her for a job, then maybe that is what should happen.

I think myspace is stupid as hell. why are kids doing this? just flat out plain stupid they want everyone on earth to see all the stupd crap they are doing...

***gin right you can tell it is her! Her face is on the initial page when you search for her! On all three profiles she set up!

It has her real name, DOB, City living in, college she goes to, pictures of her drinking with her friends (She is underage, and she has to disclose that she had a previous underage DUI on her application).

An employer noting that she had a DUI is one thing, but if they look at her page, they can see her drinking (Beer can in hand) and say to themselves "Well it looks lik Miss Party girl is still drinking underage and still partying. Maybe she did not grow up afterall"

All those pictures were put on there a few years ago, and she has grown up alot since, but an employer does not know when those pictures were put up.

I am so p!ssed that she is such a dummy! But I treat her like my own daughter and I want to help her.........

Ok, rant over for now

Jeff I like her partying ways wanna set me up?

Email the goons at Myspace and tell them to delete it.

I deleted my myspace page because I am sick of going into my email box and seeing a crapload of sluts that are fake sending friends request.

The site sucks as people have said above.

At least on Facebook you don't have to deal with idiots and stupidity as much.

Gotta be careful what you put on the internets... especially when it's tied to your name. Very few people on IRC know my real name... googling my name will get you some of my hobbies, but nothing obscene... all that stays on IRC :)

Gotta keep two identities online if you have a crazy side

ya'll hear about the kid that killer his dad because, he wouldnt let him on myspace!

Yeah, i agree with MACH.. thats one of the reasons why i put my account on private..it helped, but, still get those weirdos every know and then..

I wouldnt have it but, its nice to keep in touch with family and friends.. easier then email thats for sure. imo.

Facebook, is WAAYYYY to confusing for me! sorry.

I like Myspace, but still don't care for facebook... too boring for my taste. As far as your problem, just try to email them about the situation and see what they can do for ya.
