Help with Rush 600

I have been a lurker here for awhile, but dont post. I find this site very useful for the tech info. But my group is WI flatland riders, so I pretty much can only use the motor type tech here.

Anyway, most of our group is Polaris lovers. And I know that the 600s have been Polaris' bread and butter, at least in the flatlands, for awhile. My brother has had his 09 IQ 600 go down from snow dust. After the dealer botched the first rebuild, he got it right the second time.

Another has a 10 Rush 600. Ran really good last year for 2000 mile. Had a couple minor issues that reflashes fixed good. But this year, he blew up first trip. Dealer said snow dust. They were convinced that my bud had the hood off and didnt get the intake back on right. Buddy says he never touched it. Dealer had hood off in pre-season maintaince. Anyway, buddy has extended warranty, but dealer charged him $200 anyway. Dealer said he had to eat the cost, because buddy needed sled back for a trip. And dealer said it would have taken alot longer for Polaris warranty to approve the claim. Pics, rep being sent out, and finally approval.

So buddy gets his sled back and he gets on 500 miles and sled goes down again. Take it back to dealer, and dealer says other side went down because of stress caused on that side from when the other side went down first time. We drove it back 8 miles on 1 cylinder the first time. We had another trip planned for 4 days later, and dealer eats the cost again, and has him out the door in 4 days. No charge to my buddy this time. Dealer is pissed and making sure my buddy knows that his sled has cost the dealer over $5000 in fixes. But dealer also wants to keep my buddy happy, because he is young and has ALOT of years ahead of him to spent $$$ every 3 years on a new sled.

So we get up north a 3rd time and get 200 or so miles on, and sled run perfect. At the end of those miles, we were at a stop sign waiting for a few to catch up and his sled just turns off. We cant get it started. So we get the truck and get sled back to motel, and call dealer and he says take hood off and start checking wires and plugs. We determine that its not getting fuel. So back to the dealer again. Dealer finds a shorted out wire and fixes it. Again no charge.

So whats he to do? He cant keep on wasting $$$ on trips only to breakdown. Can he get the Lemon law to help him out? He doesnt want to leave Polaris, and Im not here to bash Polaris, because we love the Poo sleds. We understand, that no matter what brand, there will always be a lemon. He is afraid to ride it, but pissed as hell because he spent $10k on something that he cant take anywhere. And frankly Im sick of his sled screwing up my trips as well.

Any advice? Or others with similiar experinces that have found a permanent fix? Should he call Polaris and see if they will buy it back, or get a lawyer? Thanks for any advice.

What kind of tech does the dealer have? A good one? Same tech every time? Its easy to point fingers and blame someone(tech) but the polaris 600 is the best engine every built by poo. Yes it is mechanical, and it can fail, but that many times........something is up...........more than mechanical part failures. I would ask your dealer to have the regional poo rep contact your buddy, key to getting things done is be polite but let them know this is getting old and the riding season is very short. Good luck.

Yeah - I gotta agree with SNOWMANN. That sounds odd and that is the first I think I have heard of someone with a 600 Rush having those type of issues. I also have a 2010 Rush with the 600 - I put on 1800 miles last year and I am just about to 2600 total now and the sled has been flawless.

Where abouts in WI are you located? I am also from WI - just curious if I may know the dealer your buddy is working with. Sorry to hear your buddy is having these issues.

The tech did my brothers sled the first time. The same tech did my buddies sled the first time as well. The owner did both sleds the 2nd time. My IQ went down because of the intake boot deal, and the owner did mine. I have over 4000 flawless miles on mine since the rebuild now. I agree it looks like the tech is screwing up, but I also talked to the tech and he said he did over 50 rebuilds on the 800 update and not one has come back. I would think the dealer would fire this tech if he was screwing up alot? It just sucks, not only from the messing up trips standpoint, but also cuz Im due for a new sled next year, and while it appears Polaris has their stuff together on all their sleds finally, it scares the hell outta me because the one screwed up sled just happens to be my buddies.

Im not gonna post the dealers name on a forum. If you have a dealer that you think is screwing up, then we can talk about it in PMs. Thanks

The IQ 600 was last year. The rush was this year, and a group of us filled up at the same place and pump as him. Mine went down 2 years ago- intake boots. We considered gas, but its not possible to be gas. The dealer said he checked for bad gas, and high ethanol content in the rush both times. Thanks
