Help with idle issue on 03.5 rev 800

My sled has been idling high after I let off the throttle and has progressively gotten worse. I have cleaned the carbs and inspected them. It is not the idle adjustment. The sled is definitely running lean. If this problem does not sound familiar then can anyone identify what these adjuster screws are on the carbs (pictured)? I believe they are air screws. Does anyone know the amount of turns they should be out.

Thanks all.

The screw you are pointing to is labeled pilot screw. Usually set 1.5 turns out for initial adjustment. Check your carbs to make sure they are syncd. Check the carb boot for cracks. My 04 800 summit had the same issue and when I pulled apart the carbs and boots to inspect them, I had both issues. Bought a new boot and adjusted the sync screw and im idling great again. Also more power off the low end which was likely a result of the carb adjustment. Also maybe a vaccuum leak from the dpm hose? Hope this helps.

Update:

Thanks for the suggestions balls, I have solved the issue.

I always thought there was an air leak somewhere because off the high idle that progressively got worse. This has been going on for over a year. It turns out the carb boots are the source of the problem. I had inspected them long ago, but obviously not close enough. I even had the carb boots off the engine (because I just bought a new engine) and still could not see any tears in them (the reed cage hides the tears). I was looking for cracks. What I should have been looking for were the separations around the bolt holes. My boots had several of these separations. This also explains the progressive increase in idle over time.

:face-icon-small-disIf anyone else is having idle issues: This is a simple check. Remove the airbox and pull the carbs away so can see all of the bolts holding the carb boots on. Reach a finger inside the boot and try to pull the rubber away from the bolt hole. If you see the rubber separate away from the bolt (as seen in photo), you probably have the same issue I had.

I spent $150 and bought two new boots. It fixed 100% of the problem.

I hope this can save someone the frustrations I was having, like flipping the choke on to calm the idle down everytime I stopped.

Same exact problem, also new moter that was reving high and was the problem for sure with the first blow up. Lucky to find it before #2 went up in smoke. Check it out before it happens to you.
