Help with choosing the right bike...

jim is right agian. Best riding last year was racing a 4 stroke and giving him hell in the corners and twists.(who cares if it was on old XR)

momentum
yep it's your friend no matter what you ride if your in the woods. You never get in trouble if you have MOMENTUM!

haha, all this talk of riding is getting me stoked! Only thing that sorta scares me is the tracks around where i live arent very begginer friendly, or so im told. My buddies told me that you kinda just gotta nut up and hit stuff, no really forgiving things....

Just start out slow and try to hit tracks that are beginner friendly and have the int/pros split from the beg/novice classes with organized practice sessions. Any track that doesn't do that is putting everyone in danger...I don't want to land on a guy and vise versa. :) Every season I get back on the tracks I take 1-2 days of track rides before I'm doing all the jumps (I don't do triples or big tables anymore!)...and I've been racing intermediate for 10 years now. Just isn't worth rushing...especially if you still want to ride when you are older...or just this spring for that matter.

will do. So, in my town paper there is a add for a "like new, low hours" yz250f for 3200. does that sound over priced? i know u guys said go 2 smoke but im still considering a thumper...:)

what year is that yz250f?

For some reason yamaha started using a spring cushion in the yzf clutch basket rather than the rubber cushions. Those springs have been known to break and end up floating around the engine (engine and tranny are one on the yzf). That can make a huge and expensive mess. Inspect those springs once and a while for loose or broken springs.
Oh,, and www.thumpertalk.com has some very helpfull threads on a very wide range of bikes.
We luv our 04 yz250f. It has been solid as a rock. Only complaint so far, can't git the stupid fork seals to quit leaking. We've used oem and aftermarket seals and still they oooze.

You weren't running down in Chile with Lynn were you?

I'm gonna agree on him with the 2 stroke. Just started riding 2 years ago and every guy I ride with and talked to said get the 2 stroke. Yes 125s are scarce to see now, but I know a few guys who can make "tough" guys on 450's look like absolute noobs.

Of course this poor sap on a Gas Gas just likes to spend money for his expensive parts when he does need them.

Xrated- Yep, that was me. Great experience, my fingers still hurt from that race. Nice part about Gas Gas is they rarely need parts, or at least the expensive ones.;)

Hows this look?

ok guys tell me what you think of this 2006 RM250. They guy says he bought it as a practive bike and ran it twice, then sat in his garage. He wants 3000, but mabye i could talk him down?

Looks like it's got a little rash here and there. Not bad though. The price kinda goes by the area you're in and supply and demand. If he's been trying to sell for a while he may have to take a beating on it..
And there's a hell of a lot to know before anyone can give an honest value. Things that internet pictures just can't show.

Divine Intervention? I don't believe in coincidence! That would soooo rock for you!!!! When you are ready for a 250 2-smoke or a 450F, it'll sell fast too! Let me know man!:D

I don't know that honestly. It sounds good but I haven't bought a used bike in quite some time. Might check out what it books for. Definitely look it over good on sat, and riding it is part of checking it out as well.
