Help: No spark

Im helping a buddy get his sled (06 900 rmk) running for the year. At the end of last year we were up riding and it just died on him suddenly out in the middle of a meadow. I will check for the obvious and check the stator/coil. What i was hoping to get from you guys is if there is anything in perticular to look for on these sleds. Thanks for the help

Didnt Taylor replace the stator a few times? He said he had another brand new one, did you put it in? There has got to be something that keeps taking them out! Would a voltage regulator have anything to do with that?

no spark

Check the stator there is a tin ring that works its way out and cuts the stator wires down at the bottom. Hard to see the cut wires with out removing stator. I just used red loctite to secure the ring back into the flywheel and replaced the stator

Stators have been a common theme around these parts. A couple 05's in the group lost the magnet inside the flywheel taking out the stator. We were told by our dealership that polaris had updated the bonding agent that secures the magnet inside of the flywheel but nobody else has ever heard of that.

you mean..TPS (throttle position sensor)...No..

did the sled start back up after it died..?? did it have any "cutting" out prior to stalling?

check wiring from coils..

ohm out stator..

check all wiring, he may have shorted something from the coil..wiring is packed in there tight behind the fuel tank..and it chaffs badly and needs re-routed...

also check the wiring from the voltage regulator..

so as if you didn't have enough projects going, now you are fixing taylor's sled? lol hope he's paying you well! lol

no kidding. That kid is lame. he cant do anything on his own. this sled is a heap of garbage. not to happy about it. Haha

The sled would not start back up. just dided without warning as far as i know and we spent the better part of the last days of the season pulling it out. A huge storm moved in the first night we left it up there and just dumped on it for two weeks. The best ridding i had all year was trying to get this sled out of the hills. Maybe i should just tow it back up there as an offering to the snow gods. haha:beer;
