Help needed... best place to watch SeaFair from

Hey Seattle peeps... I will be in Seattle next weekend and will have some time to catch the last days of SeaFair. My question is where is the best place to watch the boat races, Blue Angles, Air show etc from? We are staying near the waterfront ( just up from Pikes Market ) so I will take my boy down to see the navy ships but I dont know anything about Lake Washington or where to view the Hydros from. Thanks in advance for the tips... Curt

Hey guys,
Watching the boats from down on the beach kinda sucks you can hardly see the boats racing. but it's cool for the scenery if you've never been.

Depends on what or how much you want to see.. If you are there for the races then I'm not sure some where elevated,, log boom maybe if you could get out there early? The beach near the pits is cool you get to see the boats up close,, If you knew some one who lived on the bench above the pits
( $$$$$$$) then that is a good place to view from. It's been a long time since I went so I don't know the routes in and out of there if you like the whole party atmosphere then just about anywhere you can get to the beach is good...

log boom sucks actually. all you can see is a boat shooting a rooster tail in the distance. you have to get log boom pass prior to races. you tie to the log boom approx 100ft inside of the rest of the boat bangers that cant see nothing but drunk women flashing there breasteses.:face-icon-small-sho police boats are constantly patrolling that 100 ft separation barrier.

Drag Races

Best place to watch is at Pacific Raceways watching the ground pounders thundering down the race track at the Pacific Norwest National drag races this Seafair Weekend. I gave up on the Hydroplane races years ago when you knew who was going to win.

Hey guys,
Ya there's not much competition in hydos anymore, just who has the most money making laps. I think it would be cool if they went back to piston power, they sounded cooler and the competition was way better.

OOOOO HELL YA.
I'll be there on the rv side tipping a darkside coozie.

ill be tied up for 3 days on the boom best spot to watch the races

What's with all the Seafair haters? Its a great event and a rich part of the local area's history. Fun for everyone and a great experience from land or water. By land google Stan Sayres memorial park or go to Seattle Parks web site. There's nothing quite like unlimited hydro racing. Im grateful my Dad took me those years ago. Its something I look forward to every year. Have fun!!

False. Several years ago they stopped placing a log boom at all in the south turn of the race course. Since there are no boats there anymore to block your view you can simply boat up after the blue angels fly and watch the races and come and go as you please. You catch an awesome view of the boats flying down the back stretch and then as they hit the south turn a massive wall of water flys up. Great fun. Its 200 feet of (approx) water right there so bring lots of anchor line if you plan on dropping your hook.

Hey guys,
Ya the hydro's just aren't what they used to be, it's just not fun to watch boats do laps theres no passing no head to head, nothing, just boats doing laps thats it. the sport will be dead before long with no changes.

The sport is in better shape than its been in for years. They have National Gaurd as the title sponsor, better funded teams and the racing is actually pretty good.
