HELP me find my first sled for $3-$4k!

NMMILES,
Give me bad rep for not telling him why I don't like the Polaris 900. I bet you didn't give everyone bad rap for telling him to buy a M7, DID YOU? WTF m7 m7 m7 m7 m7 m7 m7 m7 m7

Here since you didn't get it when they where playing a joke on him by telling him to buy a Polaris 9, THIS IS WHAT THEY MEANT they are heavy, they run like a Dragon 700, the rider positioning is off with the handle bars, they only built those POS for a year or two cause they suck and everyone knows they suck.
What else do you want MF before you keep giving me more bad Rep.

Hell if he wants to go and buy a 900, so be it. He will be sry.

That was my first sled! Don't let everybody scare you away that easy. If you are able to turn a wrench then the 900's aren't THAT bad.

Personally I am still glad the 900 was my first sled....but then again i've never rode anybody elses sled in the powder. Only my 900.

For what its worth...

Hell you said it yourself In diffrent words = POS

Wow....

I didn't know you would take this to heart so much. Wasn't trying to be an AZZ like you make it sound...

I wasn't rep'ing you because you didn't like the 900. I rep'ed you because you this. "Junk, Trash, $hit, crap.." When thats totally inaccurate. You didn't say you didn't like it, you just plain degraded it. I know many people that have a 900 and wouldn't change it for the world. Im not saying thats what the guy HAS to buy in order to be happy, I just showed him the route I took and I was very pleased with it. Why do you need to go knocking my opinion down with a pointless comment like that? If you would have said something along the lines of your second post about how he may want to reconsider because of the weight and some chassis problems than that would have been great. Everybody thats looking for a 900 needs to know those things. What does saying "Junk, Trash, $hit, crap" do for a future buyer? I ride polaris, but I don't go bashing everyone that says m7. M7's are a great started sled and I imagine he could be happy with that too. Rant over...

hahahaha...I wont sidetrack this thread since I have some positive input for the guy but this has to be addressed.

First, keep in mind WHO is saying its heavy. A "Yamahamod" guy. Heck you want to talk HEAVY ride your Tapex. You want to talk steering problems...LOOK at the garbled up steering linkage on the Apex. I seriously doubt you have EVER even rode a 900 you most likely just "read" it somewhere. I am tired of advocating the 900 and sit quitely most of the time but your comments are not even close. As for buying it for a first sled...NO, it takes some wrenching and experience to handle this machine and apparently Yamahamod couldnt handle it.

Now for the positive. Here is a sled that has some miles on it but has a fresh top end and would make a excellent first sled. Since it has miles you can buy it cheap and if you decide you want out of sledding you will most likely get you money back. Based on the fact I know what you can buy a low miler for you should be able to buy this sled between 3500 and 4k. Im sure alot of people would agree on this and this is a nice sled to start with. Best of luck and welcome to the addiction.

Let's stay on track guys. I have been out of the sport for a while I just got back into it. I traded my 660 Raptor ATV for a couple of Yamaha's. One is a 02 700 Viper with 1600 miles on it, the other is a 01-03 Mountain Lite 500- with 762 miles on it. I gave the guy a little cash to offset the 500, I got lucky I guess the 700 already has a 144" track and carriage on it. So far I am happy, no one complains about the power or the handleing, the weight not to sure about. What ever you get I hope you enjoy the heck out of it, and stay with it. And if your ever in Colorado by all means look me up for a ride.
If you don't have winter gear you might start a thread looking for some as well. I got a decent deal on some HMK boots. Good luck

Did you ever say where you were going to be rideing? I might have mised it but anyway if your going to be doing any ditch bagen(probably not) but the long tracks suck take it from experiance. But I would recomend the polaris 700, or 800's they are a very good sled. I have had a mountain max 700 triple and it was a great sled all the way up to the time I blew a hole in the motor. Sounded great with a can to. Always ran great, but was a little heavy. The rmk's will throw over easyer for ya. Cant say i have ever riden a artic cat yet so not sure on them.
