Helmet cam pole mounts?

Just curious what some guys are using for mounts / poles when using helmet cams in an elevated position from the backpack. I’ve seen some guys just use some kind of shovel handle that is extended but what’s everyone else using???

On the new Schooled DVD, it looks like they're using a chunk of PVC pipe that's been bent with heat or something.

I also thought about making something like that, but mounting it on the back of the sled so the view is just a couple feet back of my head...

Heard this works pretty good.

- cut a piece of board or thin metal that fits tightly in your pack (or water bladder sleeve)....this will minimize it wobbaling around.....you need a pack that can cinch down real tight around the board.

- attach a flexible rod....in case you hit a branch you wont get ripped off the machine.

- tripod mount or similar for camera so it can break away.

...

I was just planning on getting some type of collapsible mono-pod that I could strap to my backpack. Then just planning on using the GoPro Tripod adapter mount on top of that.

I just used some PVC that hooks into the shovel head on my back pack. Then to attach the camera, I just used a GoPro mount and counter sunk two screws into that. Works pretty good. Put some zip ties in certain places to reduce wobbling and what not.

That's a great idea, anyone else post up some vids shot from pole mounts and explain what type of mount you used.

Great job on the vids, I like the view from the pole cam and from the front of the sled looking back towards the rider. It's cool to change up the views and keep it interesting.

Here's a vid of mine with my contour rigged up to the top of my shovel handle. Not bad but too close to the rider I think. TGitt's mount with the set-back will give a better angle I think.

After reading this post it made me go Hmmmm. Love the angle from the pole mount and figured I hade better get to work... Will post pics shortly as I just got home from the store with $7.50 in good...

Great tip about using PVC in the shovel handle. We have been trying to figuure out a way to mount this without interfering with our avy bags. Setting the cam back further away sounds like the good idea.

After seeing the different angles I ended up getting a seat post mount for the GoPro so I can attach it to the front bumper. I like the angle back towards the rider as well.

I also got some billet GoPro mount for the tunnel. I've got them on both sides of the tunnel towards the rear, you can shoot forward or backwards.

Great ideas, keep em coming!!!

Here's a pic of those billet mounts

Got it close and walked around the yard with great results. No snow to play in yet! I will have to do a couple more things to fine tune it but it is stable when jumping around and running!
