Hey guys/gals,
I am currently looking into having a Head Kit or Shim Kit put on my sled. I have a 2009 M8 Sno Pro with 900 miles.
Firstly, I am not an engine expert and have very little experience with the internals of engines, especially 2 strokes. I went to my dealership inquiry about power gains. I was told that a pipe kit is less reliable then a head kit and/or a shim kit.
Simply put, I am looking for a power gain however I do not want to sacrifice relaibility. I basically want a pull and go sled, this is why I am leaning towards a head kit or shim kit.
With that being said, I don't fully understand the differences from the head kit and shim kit. From what I have been told the shim kit and head kit have similiar power gains, however the gains come on in different parts of the power band.
Can anyone shed any light between a shim kit and/or head kit? Also if anyone has installed any of these kits what is their opinions and feelings about them?
Thanks for your help and advice in advance.
Cheers,
