HCR or M8 Sno Pro ?

I am going to purchase a newer used HCR or m8 snowpro this year but I haven't really played on either one. Any experience you all have had riding both would be greatly appreciated. I ride in Northwest Montana and gennerally boondock through the mountains and some hill climbing. Some years it is waist deep powder and some years (this one) it isn't. I ride an 04 kk 900, about 190 hp., 162 x 16 and an 05 skidoo 1000 mod., about 210 hp., 174 x 16. Both have awsome power but handling them is a hand full. I am concerned that the HCR doesn't have the track needed for this area but this could be 'old school' thinking.

Love my HCR. Track hasnt been an issue for me at all. In fact most snow conditions this year I have felt like its been an advantage. I do mostly tree riding and I feel like the wider A arms might be making me work a little harder then I need to. I can still roll it up pretty easy and hold a side hill but Ive rode sno pros a few times and they come up easier and definitely fit through smaller tree spaces. But if your not in the thick trees most of your riding the HCR is nicer down the trails, climbing and boondocking.

We've got an HCR & a few other M's, the wide A arms are the last thing you want on a mtn sled & the stiffer track when directly compared to the 80 duro is inferior in most conditions.

We got rid of the A arms, but wish we could trade the 90 duro away, other than that the hcr is great, but other than that... it's an M8 :D

It's not a bad sled by any means, and I wouldn't sneeze at a killer deal on one, but otherwise we won't be buying another hcr.

I have a 10' Sno-Pro, for me the sled was the perfect choice; especially for out here in the Upper Midwest. I also preferred the White hood, so it made the choice easy. I upgraded to the Float 2's on my sled and overall I have been pretty happy with the floats for my style of riding. The progressive rate TI spring are nice as well; its a different type of ride with the TI springs.....really depends on your riding style.

Cant go wrong with either sled

I rode an HCR for 300 miles last season. Have about 600 miles on my '10 M8 snopro. For my style of powder mountain riding, the M8 is much easier to boondock over the HCR IMO. Easier on the body too at the end of the day since you don't have to put as much effort in when carving turns. I also prefer the softer durometer track out here in the light Colorado fluff.

I LOVE my HCR, ride in the mountain lots i think it is an awesome sled for boondocking, sidehilling, i love playing in the trees with this sled and the wider ski stance does not bother me at all!! It hill climbs ok i think, everything about the sled is awesome compared to my other M's. I got Zbroz rear shocks in the back and they are awesome complete my sled, it is the funniest sled i have ever rode and owned!!!
