hopefully if they sell the bag theyll think out the storge a little more than the abs vario . this ahs to be the worst back pack in the world u get 3 compartment and 2 of them suck to get into and you have no place to put a shovel . i just fell kinda ripped off going from a 100$ skidoo bag that was awsome to an 1100 $ bag that is a pita to get into . also i think that having the air bag around youre head would cut down on trama to youre head. and the breathable air seems like an awsome idea , is the air in the abs bag breathable ?. and it seems like you could get the snowpulse filled at youre local scuba shop

I like seeing other companies getting involved in this technology. It should help improve the R & D with in the industry and may make them a little more affordable. Looks like a cool system too me.

Did you mean the Escape 30 is heavier than both? The escape 30 is 7.1 lbs + about 1lb for the canister. The Vario 30 is 6.6 lbs + about 1lb for the canister. The Snowpulse is 6.6lbs with the canister.

The ABS Airbags are also 170L airbags, whereas the Snowpulse is 150L.

I agree with you that the snowpulse would limit your limit your mobility more so than the ABS.
Yes on the Escape being heavier. Not enough coffee yesterday I guess. I didn't realize ABS didn't include the canister in their quoted pack weights, good info.

the other thing to consider with the snowpulse is "if" you actually do get barried, it's bags slowly deflate over i think 10 mins(?) giving you both more room to move your head and upper body, PLUS more breathable air!!!!!!!!!!

would an Avalung in conjunction with an ABS do the same thing or aren't they that effective/usable in your guys' opinion

don't think "air" is breathable in an ABS since it CO2, which is what we exhale, which suffocates when buried, probably would make situation worse if ABS popped under snow., a huge dose of CO2 in addition to what we are already breathing out

I know this thread is more than 2 years old, but i think the verdict is in that the SnowPulse avy bag is a great pack and the issues that SnowBigDeal brought up back then have been addressed and the bag now performs flawlessly.

As far as filling your canisters with a your home air compressor, these canisters MUST be filled with DRY AIR only. Regular home air compressors have impurities that will freeze and make your avy bag inoperable.

That, and I have yet to see a home air compressor that will hit 3,000 psi :)

It is nice to see some one else getting into the game. Hopefully a little competition will bring the prices down a bit. The one thing that sticks out to me is the big looping handle, it seems like that would get hung up on every tree you even came close to?? I do like the design and the attempt to keep your head and neck protected. I hope this works out for them.

You do seem to find the trees, just like me :) I remember one ride where we both ended up in a tree 3 or 4 times each! Good Times!
