Have any you ever pulled a 2 place sled trailer with a trailblazer?

I am looking at getting a chevy trailblazer. I was wondering have any you ever pulled two sleds with that vehicle? I will be towing back and forth from Colorado Springs to Idaho Falls. If you have pulled far with one was it the Extended or short model? Any mods? Did it rob HP and was the short wheel base squirly? I know it wont pull like my full size truck did but I am just curious how it would work. For you owners out there what motor you got and what is the HP and gas milege like?

i pull a 2 sled trailer with a quad and my generator, up the big horns all summer with a 4.7 v8 and no problems...

My buddy pulls his two place (open) trailer with an Envoy-same as Trailblazer with no problem at all. May will need to run in 3rd on hills or headwind to prevent excessive shifting but other than that you should be fine. Gas MPG will only be around 11 or less depending how hard you push it.

It will tow a 2 place just fine. I've towed 4 place trailers with 5.2l and 5.9l Grand cherokees for years.

I have a 03 Envoy with the 6 cylinder. I've pulled a trailer with 2 polaris sportsman 700 on it, way heavier than 2 sleds and it pulled just fine. Fuel mileage was only about 10mpg though. On some of the steeper hills it slowed to 45mph but that did'nt bother me. Did'nt fell like it was pulling the rear end around either, and it's the short version not the Envoy XL.

have pulled a 2 place with an RMK700 and XLT on with my Toyota 4runner (v6) a number of times and it does fine, but fuel mileage tanks badly. If you tow very far, a larger engine is going to work less and get better mileage.

If it has the 4.3 in it .....It will pull it but you are not going to do 75 down the interstate. Been there done that. 15mpg is the best of what you will get. Other than that it will pull it just not all the power it should have. The 4.3 in them is at 180hp or so but 225 would be a night and day difference. Has enough but not quite enough for my liking. Full size pickup will get just as good of fuel milage I think.

P.S. I have a 04 S10 crew cab which is the same chassis

Sounds like if i were to get a trailblazer/envoy I would be best off gettn the V8 model for long huals. Does anyone know what the gas milliage is with the v6 or v8 with out a trailer in the city and highway?

I think the Trailblazer's ability is largely dependant upon the type of trailer you have. If you have one that has big, fully sheeted drive off ramps, it's going to pull like crap regardless of what you've got. However, years ago I was a grocery rep and I had a little tilt bed 2-place trailer with no front ramps at all and I used to pull it to the different areas that I had to cover with a Buick Park Avenue with a 3.8L V-6! The wind resistance to those ramps is what will kill you more than anything. Look for something like a Yacht Club SM105 or something similar and you'll be able to pull 2 sleds just fine.

my family has a blazer, trailblazer, bravada, and denali.

i borrow the trailblazer and it will pull the 2 place just fine. Expect 10 or less MPG though so it would be wise to carry a 5 gallon gas jug on the trailer in case you dont quite make the next town. I pull from salt lake to rexburg all the time with bravada and trailblazer...

Heck I heard your Jetta TDI pulled it better;)

Speaking from experience, get the extended wheel base! It may look like a turd, but it's functional.

1. It has a larger fuel tank that you WILL need.

2. Longer wheel base will help in ride and stability.

3. One thing that ticks me off is when you put the back seats down on the short chassis, I need to slide my seats up. I'm only 6' and drive with seat all the way back. I hate to be jammed up against the steering wheel.

4. You will need some type of mirror extentions to see around the trailer and assist in backing up,especially if you are pulling an enclosed. (you can't see squat)

5. With longer wheelbase you have the option of the V8. My I-6 pulls just fine with 3:73 gears.

My 2 cents....

mine gets 15 in the winter around town 20 highway empty. 18-19 around town in summer 21-22 empty. truck has 4.2 I6. also noticed when towing sled trailer turn off cruise, can better antisipate when a hill is coming, truck won't grab 2nd gear at 70mph that way. also i run synthetic in engine trans t-case and both diffs.
