Has anyone on here Drilled the Rev rails to lighten them up????

Hello I have seen a few Rev sled on here in pics where the rails have been drilled to lighten them, one particular sled it really looked like they were swiss chessed in a sence.

I just notice the XP has more holes in the rails, Is the Aluminum in the XP rails different or stronger than the Rev?? can I drill holes in the lower section of my rails to lighten them but obviousle not get to radical with the drill to make them to weak just to lighten them up, I don`t plan on drilling in the area where alot of people install rail stiffeners. which is obviously the thinnest and weakest spot of the rails.

How many have done this??

Pics would be cool..

Thanks, Wildcard

When I was looking into anodizing my rails I was told that the XP and REV both use the same type (alloy) of aluminum for the rails.

As far as drilling the rails I can't help you there but I would think that design of the cutouts in the rail would play a major part in rail strength. I would be interested to hear how much weight is lost compared to the durability of the rails with the extra holes.

Can you use a xp as a guide and drill in the same places as BRP put the holes?

Are you sure its your sled that needs to go on a diet or yourself?? haha

Haha, I weigh 160lbs, with all my gear, underlayer, Pants, Bibs, Boots, Jactet, Helmet, Goggles, Balaclave and Full Backpack. Walky Talky, Camera.

I have lost 15lbs (healthyly) since I started my new Job... in less than a year
with no extra excercise. just hard work.

What do you weigh?? with all your gear on, Lol

Good Idea Red-eye,

I have checked out a few XP skid and was thinkin of doing the same since it was mentioned they use the same type of aloy aluminum.

keep the suggestion coming, I wonder if the shocks and arms mechanism`s ar lighter on an xp skid compared to a Rev.

lol. of course no offense!

Just a 05 rev 151. there is a few old pics when I started my build in the rev picture section. Its a 820 BB Ported, ghigh compression race gas engine. All AAEN performance parts. pipe, HPS can, wideband, EGT, ported track, polished tunnell, Mod Rods vents etc.
