Harley Davidson whats all the Noise about ?

I really don't care how loud bikes or sleds are. What is disturbing, is that there are hundreds of thousands cars/trucks/motorhomes/motorcycles that travel through the park every summer. The liberals don't have any problems with that. But you cut the number of motorized vehicles that go through the park in the winter easily in half (probably more) and they think they have to put up every restriction as possible to eleminate snowmobiles. So lets see, you have more then double the amount of motorized vehicles which is double the so called polution compared to winter travel, yet they want to say that snowmobiles are poluting the park. It's such hypocritical bull sh**! If you want to enjoy the park cross country skiing or on snow shoes fine. If I want to enjoy the park on a snowmobile, that's my right as well. We each should have our right to enjoy nature the way we choose as long as we're not destroying the environment. They think they can dictate how we enjoy the park. I hate those liberal vermin! I think that's what the original authur was trying to say is how hypocritical it is that there can be loud bikes, but not snowmobiles.

well i have over 1,000,000 miles on a motercycle, and the last 16 years they have all been harleys or buells[i buy american made bikes] and all my bikes have an aftermarket exhaust on it for 1 reason. to make the gray hairs or the not paying attention people, not to cut you off or run you off the road when you are beside them,i have almost been killed so manytimes because they dont no your there, mostly because they dont look, but when they can here you,it has never been an issue.im not trying to tick any body off buts thats the way it is in almost every state i have travelled in,which is all 50 states, chris.

Why do I think I can have loud pipes? It's called America "FREEDOM". It's quite the concept we enjoy here. If you don't like my loud pipes DON'T LISTEN! Given how many people driving vehicles have no regard for bikes and don't pay attention to what they are doing, I am glad I can have loud pipes as I have seen first hand they have saved my butt on more than one occassion.

Why do people think it is their right to be as loud and annoying as they want to be? When did we stop thinking about others and our actions to others?

Loud is lame..

Well put, I couldn't agree more.

So, I can throw rocks at someone who is driving down my road with obnoxious pipes, right??? I mean, It's called America "FREEDOM" right?? What? You mean there's a LAW against that... holy crap, where's the "FREEDOM" in that????

There are sound regs on the books, that's a fact, obnoxiously loud bikes, cars, sleds, whatever are illegal. Why are they illegal? Because it's America & the rest of us have a right to NOT have to listen to your obnoxious overcompensation to being born with such a small penis.

Btw, "If you don't like my loud pipes DON'T LISTEN!"...

Most retarded statement I've seen on the internet in the last month (well done, that's NOT an easy feat!!) you get a gold star.

Cannonman, I know you're a good guy, we've met & I don't think you're retarded, as this post makes you seem, but wow.

BTW, nobody here is talking about a stock HD, or even one with a set of reasonable aftermarket pipes, we ALL know the difference between stock or close & F****in obnoxious jackasses. Also, to have the harley people on our side would be a good thing, but nobody is going to go after those guys, they know better.

I commute on my bike all the time. Loud pipes don't do anything for someone pulling out in front of you. All they do is annoy the people that you passed.

If someone turns into you or merges into you, they couldn't see you and you were probably riding in their blindspot. Something that many bikers forget about and they expect the world to be looking out for them.

Defensive driving goes a long ways. Not trying to say there isn't an issue, as there are stupid people that would turn into you if you were driving a semi.

It is not your right to be as loud and annoying as you want in public and around other people. If you are on your own property and no one is bothered by it, well fine. But if you are in public, people should show some respect and courtesy to others.

Gentlemen, I am sorry I don't agree with most of you on this issue and I never said it is my "right" to have loud pipes. There are regs. on this and in nearly every motor vehicle aspect there are vehicles that are a lot louder than regs. and people live with it. I see it up here all the time and in the back country with sleds. I will agree that there are a ton of Morons with there Harleys, Sport Bikes, and Sleds who really push the envelope. I to am not fond of them but if that is what they want to do so be it. The law will catch up to them sooner or later, but to have someone chastise us because we have louder than stock pipes is not right.
There are far more important issues and if people are to point out bikes and wonder why it will hurt all of us including more snowmobile problems. I think it does absolutely no good pointing out one group over the other. My comment of "Don't Listen" as written was probably not written correctly but from what I had been reading it was turning into a Harley bash and that p***** me off.
Glad I got a gold star though.
This whole thing just needs to get people thinking as I have to before we bash one another and end up hurting ourselves. You are right Kaleb we have met and I and hope to see a lot of you and your peeps this winter, actually been thinking of contacting you in regards to another matter, and I still will, but your comment about having loud pipes to overcompenstate is uncalled for.
Just for your information my indian name is Chief Hung Like Small Pony!!! Just Saying...........
Hope this clears up my thoughts on here and really do enjoy the "CONSTRUCTIVE" banter.
Kaleb, if you would give me a call @ 970-856-6240 or thundermountainlodge@yahoo.com or send me an alternate email or number I can contact you at on another matter. Thanks, Mark

Loud pipes don't save lives. That old person won't hear you until you are going crunch....you hear loud pipes after they pass ya.

I'm a biker and I hate when people say they have loud pipes to save lives. Maybe a small percent of the time, but there are so many other things you can do on 2 wheels that are more effective then loud pipes.

well that was a truely nice post.

Oh and a big old BASH on Harley riders:face-icon-small-sho

You are absolutely correct about loud pipes saving lives every time. DEFENSIVE DRIVING and PAYING ATTENTION is the best thing you can do and it seems it is something most people forget about. I do enjoy my pipes and have seen where they have helped and I will take any tool I can get to stay safe. It all boils down to common sense. If anyone thinks loud pipes alone are going to save them they are sadly mistaken and we will end up reading about them.

Hey, we're all compensating for SOMETHING, uncalled for or not!!!!

My mom didn't give me enough attention when I was a child... :face-icon-small-blu

Oh, and you will! I'm looking forward to betting a few more miles on out that way this winter!

It's summertime, what else do we have to do but beat on each other & whine about some something that has nothing to do with snowmobiling?????

When I was in stop and go traffic in Los Angeles last month I encountered a lot of bikes that get between the lanes and just zip up through the traffic...just barely missing everyones side mirrors by less than inches.

I was thankful when I rolled my window down and started to stick my camera out the window to snag a pic of a Lambourghini...when noisy bike came up from behind and I crawled back inside the car with room to spare. LOL.

I had other bikes go through SILENTLY and never knew they were there till they were past me...THOSE were dangerous.

The sad part is that some people just don't get it. And it makes others look bad. The question is how can we make these people understand so they don't ruin it for others? Here's a question for the Harley riders that get pissed off at people complaining about their loud exhaust, do you like the sound of- a loud Honda Civic, loud rap music, your neighbors loud music at all hours, do you like it when your eating at a resturant and the table next to you is loud and annoying. NOT EVERY ONE likes nor wants to hear your LOUD Harley, snowmobile, atv, car, truck, music, ect. Your just making it harder on the rest of us. Open your fricken minds! It's just like the guy that shoots his deer and puts it out where everyone can see it on the ride home to prove he is a mighty hunter instead of putting it out of site. How many PETA followers or people that don't hunt will see his prize kill? And what will they think?
I use to love watching NFL games. I can't stand them now because HALF of the players have to do a dance or show off every play they make. If you ride a Harley your representing Harley riders, if you ride a snowmobile your representing snowmobiles. That's what people think that don't ride Harleys or snowmobliles ect. What I'm trying to say is protect your sport and what you love to do because if it's fun somebody will try to out law it or change it so it's not fun any more.

P.S. Thank you mom and dad for teaching me common courtsey and common sense.
