handlebar risers 88 indy wedge

any input on putting riser and or new bars on the old 88 indy 400 for my daughter, would be appreciated, ie, what will work or not,any pics that show a similar setup etc.
just need a little more room

on that sled are the bars welded right to the steering post or are they clamped. if they are welded you will need a new set of bars, but I am sure you can find a set used for 5-$15 pretty easily. this may sound scary but alot of vintage guys do this, cut the bars off the steering post at about 2" over from each side of the post. so you make a 4" "t" across the top of the steering post, then most risers should just bolt the risers to the "t". if they are not welded then you can buy a set of risers and bolt them on.

check out this site, good risers and a good price. there are also tons of pics on the photos page of different installs. they would work on both situations for your sled.

its just as easy to build your own if you have some square tubing lying around, just drill holes on each side and bolt it between the two plates holding them together..... but watch the throttle cables, if they get stretched out too much yur sled will take off and run into your brand new shop door.

Go to Ebay and buy a new 6-8 inch longer throttle cable. They are something like 20 bucks for a full on cable not one of those goofy extension boxes.
