Guy Shoots Moose and you wonder why snowmobilers have problems with the Public

Google moose accident and tell me what you find. These animals do unbelievable amounts of damage. They weigh as much as a small car and they are all muscle. You clearly have no experience with wildlife. When your only safe route is blocked by a car with an attitude and a mind of it's own you'll see it differently I'm sure.

Sorry didn't mean to thumbs down that last post. But the moose isn't up to it's neck off trail. It jumps off the trail when it gets shot and it's only half way up its legs. Soooo your argument is....

It stepped off the packed trail but was still on the trail. I've personally seen moose completely stuck in deep snow. Heavy pointy hoved animals don't get around worth a SH!t on deep snow.

It's in the exact same depth of snow as the aforementioned video clip. Your just grasping at weak facts now. No sh** they don't do good in the deep snow. But there legs are 4 ft tall. The snow in the videos not much deeper than that.

Point not made. That snow isn't even close to the depth of the snow off trail in most the riding area in the big horns right now.

We aren't talking about the snow in the big horns. We are talking about a specific video clip. And in that clip it's the same amount I snow as the clip I just provided you with. Your argument is just falling apart.

The wyoming game and fish is the one looking for the guy. So obviously they have reason to beilve that's where this guy was.

I'm done arguing. You guys keep posting and giving the greenies good evidence that snowmobilers will be killing moose on the trail. Good job.

That's all fine an dandy, but Wyoming has more than just there to ride I'm sure. I said in my first post I wouldn't have posted the video to "brag" about the kill and I would have put the moose down after I removed me and the other riders from the situation. But I don't think the guy acted unresponsibly and we don't know if he did afterwards cuz again it's just a clip. I'm sure that the forestry service will investigate this, as they should to get the whole story, but from that clip it doesn't show me evidence of him doing anything wrong.

So it was you and mtncat!! Makes sense now.

Didn't think it was....would love to ride out west. But your damn right I'd act the same way if I found myself in the same boat. And if any of you were and had a means to protect yourself I'd be willing to bet you would to. When your riding with other people you can't just think about yourself and your safety, idk about you but I wanna make sure the whole group gets home in one piece. And again idk about you guys but I do ride with new to the sport people from time to time and they probably would have ended up stuck on the side of the trail. So you have to weigh your options very quickly, people need to stop putting the lives of animals before human life.

so how many of you guys carry glocks when you are riding a sled:face-icon-small-sho:rolleyes:.this guy made so many dumb mistakes to get into his situation in the first place.it is obvious he had very little experience around animal & panicked.if you know anything about animals, that moose gave him every warning in the book it was going to charge & he ignored them.we ride past moose on a regular basis here & never have a issue if you are carefull & give the moose the time & space it needs.

I've been charged by mt lions on 3 seperate occasions while guiding hunters and yes they are all dead.but a moose in deep snow when on a snowmobile, i think it couldve easily been avoided!!!

Under normal circumstances on a full width trail or with a clear field or an opening in the trees, ya I would have avoided it too. But if I was with one of my noob buddies I would not have gone off trailing to avoid it and I would not have gotten off my sled to turn it around. Or the sled behind me. If at all possible you should always avoid the situation but given the circumstances that this video clip has provided I don't think he was wrong. He was loud standing up, making himself known. The moose turned away, so he made a slow advance and the moose turned and charged. It back off again and so did he. At this point I would have already been getting my side arm, and been firing a warning shot to maybe scare it away the rest of the way. Then it just turned and charged, making contact with him and the sled, now it dies. Nobody thinks twice to put down a dog that bites a person, but god forbid a wild animal that's 20x the size gets put down when it attacks people.
