guide for big horns

Going out to the big horns the 20th-22nd and staying at arrowhead. The good snow sounds kind of scarce right now, just wondering if a guide would be worth it for the first day?

Plenty of riders that know the area well are on here. Save your money and find a local to ride with would be your best bet. If the snow is half way decent I will most likely be going up and wouldn't mind showing you around.

Shelby whats wrong with spending a little money and supporting our local economy to have a positive experience? Just my 2 cents.

Nothing wrong with that at all, I would prolly do that if I was a first timer in the horns. Just a suggestion in case they were on a tighter budget. Have heard good things about the guides at bear and supporting them is something everyone should do that rides there.

I have used guides twice in the horns. My first time there and another when snow conditions were tuff. Very glad I did both times....money well spent I thought.

There are lots of riders that ride the horns that would have no problem showing you around just ask many ride every weekend there. Most sledders have no problem sharing info. Good gps and research with topo maps help to find secret parks.

Yes, I agree with Beefspots, helping and support the local economy to keep these 3 resorts running. Also, we usually stop at the restaurant for breakfast next to Sinclair at Dayton to help keep it running before going up into the mountains and sometimes for supper before heading back home. :face-icon-small-win

Will be out there the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of Feb, staying @ bearlodge.
Hit me up if you're gonna be out that way, a snow report would be much appreciated if youre out there before hand....

We have a group of 6 coming out....Sleds range from turbo's to one of our guys renting...

Any info would be helpful! Thanks

Didnt end up booking a guide, wouldnt mind meeting up with another group tho. sounds like the snow should be good no matter what and i think were doing our part in stimulating the economy by driving a loaded down hemi 1200 miles and paying for rooms, gas, and food for 3 days.

Its called the Branding Iron in dayton its great to catch breakfast before the ride. By some bit of luck and good fortune i get to live one steet over and still can make a good living in dayton/sheridan area. :face-icon-small-coo

We just came back and originally hired a guide for one day... after that first day we hired him for two more days.. If you can get a hold of Lee at Bearlodge he was an awesome guide and worth every penny!
