I do think secession is coming. I expect more the other direction. I think at some point Texas will. When they became a state it was one of the conditions. At that point it will be a land grab to see who stays and who goes. I may be to old to see it in my lifetime, but I will bet a nickle some of you will.
You both know I lean more heavily conservative than liberal... but consider for awhile perhaps why city people are liberal and what that means for them. There is a reason people who live in huge population centers lean liberal more often than not.
So if California leaves, will they build a wall and pay for it?
If they do I will pay for the wall and lay the bricks myself!

Liberalism is a disease. No properly thinking human could end up there. It is a dead end of empty promises based on feel good mantras that simply do not deliver.
Not a matter of in touch, but a matter of community. You know I'm from SD and I lived in Brookings for 4 years- when one of your own struggles or has something bad happen everyone in the local community pitches in and helps the person and their family deal whatever happens. There are those people who tend to watch over the less fortunate in the town and make sure they don't go without. Be it churches or just the well to do in the town things get done.
In big cities you don't have that. People are down trodden and destitute and no one looks out for the poor/destitute because there are so many and in general people in cities don't bother looking out for each other(in general). For this reason, people expect the government to step in and do what no one else is willing/can to do.
It has always been my opinion that liberal leaning individuals are idealists and that in an ideal society their ideas would be great. On the other hand, I used to feel that conservatives are the ones who were realistic and understand how the world actually works. Now with the current administration it has been more difficult to say things like that when they can't manage to create any healthcare reform.
And this is how we dehumanize anyone who doesn't think like us. Makes it so much easier to see them as the enemy when they aren't even properly human.

Severe mental insecurity is what causes political parties. Sheeple find security in large groups be it conservative or liberal. If it is taxes they are twisted up about I can see their point,I am tired of putting money into a system that feeds the poor and the wealthy and then $hit$ on the people who are working the hardest and living the leastess. As long as there is a two party system the hard working honest American will work to pay for someone else's college education or even worse someone else's fabulous fun filled vacation for the 6th time this year.

It is EXTREMELY hard for me to be around people with the liberal disease, including family. The ideas and thoughts that drive liberalism have NEVER worked in government on this planet successfully, NEVER. All of the socialist countries that follow that agenda are failing, have failed or will fail. I know the argument is always that the right people haven't properly implemented the plan yet but the real truth is, it is based in lies that will never deliver the utopia promised.

A more correct analagy would be that we find it easier to simply ignore those whose vision of the direction of our country contradicts the vision of our founders.
We need to let everyone speak their opinion, but of course in the end we must not ever dismiss the vision of the framers of the constitution.
