Grooming Report Orr Creek, Johnson Creek, Skate Creek

Skate Creek Question

I haven't had a chance to ride out of Skate Creek yet as the last two seasons haven't had enough snow. Coming from the Packwood side, is parking at the lower gate?

Joshnson Creek 12/24/2015

Just thought I would share this pic. We scoped out Johnson creek to see if we had enough room for our motorhome and tent. We decided that it would be too tough to turn the 28' motorhome towing a 24' trailer around in unles we could get the whole parking lot completely plowed for us...lol

Yeah, that's why I mentioned this earlier in post #14 of this thread...I made the mistake of towing my 27 foot enclosed in there behind my crew cab 4 x 4 truck a year or two ago.

It was extremely tight turning it around to get out of there for the trip back down the hill.

Yeah I caught the #14 post but i didnt realize the size of your rig and trailer. our motor home is 28' and the trailer is 24'

Glad you had the forethought to scope it out in your Jeep...it could really suck getting up there in a bigger rig.

Even worse trying to get it out! :face-icon-small-sad

exactly!!!....we would like to go check out skate creek road on the ashford side but jeep had some electrical issue we gotta fix first. we checked it out a couple years ago and we know of a camp spot but were not sure on how much snow is there, Its really looking like were gonna go to cold creek area though...we fought the wonderfull traffic on white pass to go scope it out 3 1/2 hrs it took to go 4 miles :face-icon-small-sad snow is nice there and weve camp there before but they have only plowed the road not in the snowpark itself so unless we helicopter the motorhome and trailer in lmao we can only park on the road and not thinking the locals would like it. were wondering if the forest ranger would mind if we shovel enough of the snow away to make a little more room for us to camp?

Snow Park

Was there Saturday snow park plowed out several truck trailer combos parked. Snow was awesome on top. Was a good day.

Not sure AL
I skate creek is not plowed yet careful if you go that way
I was stuck in the Johnson Creek snow park last week lucky I have a cat to push me out.

If any of you get stuck there my cat is parked in randle and I also have one staged up there give me a call u need help you getting out.

I don't have the plow contract yet .

Orr Creek Update

I was wondering if the status of Orr Creek access has changed. I know there was a charity ride scheduled this weekend and wanted to know what the new plan might be?

Speaking of Skate Creek, I see there is a SnoPark on the Packwood end, but just a trail junction marker on the Ashford end.

Is there anywhere to unload and ride from the Ashford end?

We live a lot closer to Ashford is why I ask.

Also, is there much riding area there...doesn't appear to be too many groomed trail miles?

Just looking for something different to scope out.

skate creek

when you say parking is at the 5240 rd where is that because everyone i saw was parking on the road by where you started grooming and put up the snow burm including all the skiers and sledders and all the 4x4 were all going past that heading towards the gate on skate creek
