Grand Mesa

Grand Mesa Riding

Well riding all the frozen lakes and meadows can be great for beginners and groups with mixed ability. There is also plenty of expert terrain with steep trees, cliffs, and hill climbs. How about this...Anyone that can follow my line for 5 minutes gets a free night stay! I will set the line for 5 minutes and expect you to take a very similar line while following. I have a stock 163 t3, if you have a turbo we need to negotiate. Thanks

Jeff, I talked to the "old guy" Tom, he said if the line is to the top of the saddle, he will jump in on his free night.

In regards to what Jeff says, there is riding for all abilities from his place. Went out there for the first time this year to check it out. I was a little worried day 1, when it seemed light mellow terrain. We met Jeff and a group of "hardcore" CO riders when they were on their way back, and Jeff had that group looking like beat little puppies. Somehow I don't think they were as hardcore technical as they thought they were.

Day 2 was much better (starting to find some of the more techie stuff), and then we finally got some time to ride with Jeff. That's when we found some good tech riding. Lots of good canyons with steep climbs, steep trees, boulder fields, you name it.

Any updates?

I walked up sunlight trail head quite a ways yesterday looked like you could just patch it to the snowline, never made it to the actual snowline though.

Still Riding

So, I went for a little ride this morning directly from Thunder Mountain Lodge...All snow...I'm riding up here for the next 2 days, then I guess I can claim last ride again. I was surprised that the tree riding was not hollow. Mostly where I am riding has about a 6 foot base with about 6-12 inches of slush on top around noon or so...Our conditions are not real good for summer business, but what the hell-lets go ride.
