I know this has been on here several times but I am wanting to know what is the best "mid level" GPS out there for the money? I would like to get a Garmin but I don't know what model. Any help is appreciated.

Tell us what you are going to use it for? Vehicle, on the sled, geocaching? Price range?

Garmin makes great easy to sue consumer products, just a matter of finding one that matches your needs and some wants!

Garmin 60CSX is what I bought. Great reception, accepts SD Micro cards, Colour, has Barometric Altimeter, and Compass built into it. Lots of other features, like maps and charts that can be downloaded into it.

Wish it came with a day course on how to use it....

We were in a snowstorm last year, and I brought out the GPS and figured I could make my way to a known Waypoint...I couldnt figure it out under duress.
I asked my buddy if he could figure out where we were, no he couldnt...he was not familar with the Garmin.
I asked my other buddy if he knew, since he had the same GPS as me. "Nope, I dont know how it works, that's why I left it in the truck"

So, the moral of the story is...learn how to use it in ideal situations! I am still learning, and should have been practicing all summer...

Like it said on someone's signature..."There will come a time when Winter will ask what you were doing all Summer"

Garmin Rhino 530 are very nice, especially if you and a couple buddies get them together, walke-talke between them search mode works good for smowmobiling or hunting, loading road maps topo maps for riding hunting areas

I have the Garmin Colorado 300. Its super easy to use, I was playing and understanding all the features after having it out of the box for 5 minutes. I know enough now that I could get myslef home if I got lost. Only downside I see is you have to get the software upgrade if they havent already done it (sportsmans warehouse did it for free) and to get the road and topo maps you will spend another $200 on top of the $500 gps cost. It does have turn by turn navigaton with the road maps installed though.

I have the Garmin etrex legend and its great, waterproof. Doesnt have all the features a some of the others but easy to use, light and small. It can take downloads like topo and stuff the only downside is its not color and cant take an sd card but I didnt need all the bells and whistles. I got it on sale for like $120 so te price was right for something I'll probably beat up on the sled.

They have a new one that just came out called the oregon that looked pretty sweet but I havent looked int price and stuff yet.
Here is a link for the demo. http://www8.garmin.com/buzz/oregon/

Same here, don't need all the bells and whistles on my GPS, when I use it I am either mountain biking, kayaking, sledding, quading, etc, not playin with the buttons. Most other models are overkill for what they do, for simple navigation and everyday use I use the cheap etrex legend, and I use $13k GPS units at work, same garmin got me within the same genral area as that unit once at work when I was testing accuracy, love mine.
