As title say's, has anyone been up to Quartz or Gorman the last week that could update the road condition into the area, distance to staging area and which area has better snow? I know it will be beyond spring conditions for snow conditions, but just want to make one more family trip.

Thanks for any info that anyone can provide.

I guess everyone's on their quads now and fishing.

Will post where we go and road/snow access distance after tomorrow's ride.

Made it to about the 6 - 7 k mark going into Quartz. Rutted up really bad in spots and was unable to make it any further.

Went up to Gorman and unloaded at about 1 mile from the foot bridge. Very little road to ride the sleds on.

Snow was heavy, wet and slushy, but still fun.

Could hear avalanches, but not alot was seen. Alot of big stuff hanging from up high, but most of the mountain sides had let go already.

I would say that there will be about 5 - 7 days left of access and then that will be it for Gorman.

Stopped at Motor Tech and talked to Randy. He thought at this point if anyone was riding the Golden area, Hope Creek would be your best bet as it has been abit colder up there and much of the access area is shaded.

Thanks for the report. Any troubles getting over to Lang? How about Cirque, East Quartz? Did you see anyone else riding?

No pictures?

I was with my kids so stayed around the lake and the hills heading into both East Quartz and Lang. I took a run up to both areas and looked in. No worries on access. I spoke with 3 guys that were in both areas and they spent a good day back in there.

I have pics of snow and Gorman Lake, but not sure how to post them on here.

Was in Gorman on the 24th and there was water on the north side of the lake, I'm surprised you didn't see more water there. Snow was still good but yeah, road was rough rough rough after the big parking lot, maybe its better now if it has been drier, the trail was brutal - all 2-3 foot chop. Quartz was done when we were there too. Way up top was good but there were some bare spots at 8 and 10 kms.

Yes, there was geting to be abit of a pool of water on the north end and a few cracks showing on the north and south end.

Actually, the other group that was up there spent an hour pulling a sled out of the water that had trenched down in and sunk abit.

LOL time to get the hell out of there if there is that much water.....

I have found in the past about the last week of May is the latest I will venture in there, just too much potential for the water and soft surface on the lake after that. When we were out in May, we were climbing some of the little chutes on the north side of the lake until I went too far east and tried to pull one of the steeper ones. I thought the water was only about 1 foot deep and solid ice underneath, when I skipped across 20 ft of it and started up the hill I almost stopped dead and had to go WFO to climb about 200 ft and then turned out, I looked back at my track and saw a 4 foot trench where I crossed the water and sank into the water and soft snow :) Needless to say we stopped playing over in that area LOL
