I know its been discussed and discussed but what is the winner on the poll? I will be using this for mostly snowmobiling so thats why this is in the general snowmobiling portion.

I voted for contour but really it depends on the model. Maybe you should list the different model contour and go pros.
Contour:
HD 720p
HD 1080p
GPS HD 1080p
Go Pro:
SD Hero
HD Hero 960
HD Hero

This will be interesting, I've been looking at both of these and have been having a hard time deciding.

You know, that would be an interesting test.
Mount the two different cameras on the same helmet and go for a ride, them compare the final result side by side.

Thats why this post came about I have heard so much about them and I have been on the fence about the go pro I mean these things are used everywhere but which one records the best, which one has the best frame rates, Who had the most expandable memory, and who puts out the best picture. Also which one has the best mounts for snowmobile applications. I actually made a mount for my hood and helmet for my Sony HD Camcorder but my wife saw it and said "try it and see what happens." So I put it away, then I aslo have a Cannon T2I with 1080 Video but its hard to lug a big camera around with all the equipment we have.

Chris,
I think we need snowest to do a test like this in the mag and post the video results online. If they would like they can send me both and I will write and post the review.:face-icon-small-hap

I just recieved my Gopro yesterday. I ride with TGitt and M8Chris and one Chris's buddies and they all have used the GoPro HD and after seeing the video quality that is what I also ordered. I'm headed up bloomington area Saturday and hoping to get some good footage with this new camera. I have no experience with the Contour but the GoPro rocks and you can't go wrong with it.

Tree Boss??? WTF?? Haha!

A true side by side mounted and recording the same thing at the same time would be cool to see... I love my Go Pro 960 HD:face-icon-small-hap

Also, consider size and battery life [in the cold].

I'd assume, due to size, the Contour would stay out of the way better, and potentially take less damage in a crash...or in general tree banging situtations.

We have some of the new Contour GPS/Camera models and they are pretty slick. We used the Gopro last year and upgrade to the Contour this year and have been happy.

Wow, I was almost ready to pull the trigger on the GoPro, but I would like to get some underwater shots with it as well and after seeing the video comparison, the countour kicks its ***. I wonder if the focusing issue is in the settings?

Anyone have focusing issues with there GoPro's?

waterproof housing not required for snow with the contour.
But they do sell a waterproof housing for underwater applications....40$

Can operate all of the functions of the contour 1080hd while in the housing
