GM

Chrysler speaking Italian.
Ford walking carefully (and smartly).
GM being ransacked..

Does anyone feel that the credit markets are the real reason that GM is failing?

All GM internal family issues aside, Blaming the company, Socializing an Industry Leader, Intimidating Bond holders, and giving $$$ to unions doesn't feel right.

How about making loans available to consumers and small companies so that the auto producers can sell their product to those who will service those loans!

Monday will be a sad day in American History.
72.5% Government Ownership.

MD.

Yes, a sad day to lose part of our American Heritage...Bel Airs, Chevelles, Impalas, Corvettes, Camaros, Chevy trucks, Cadillac, etc, etc.

I wish GM would have stood up for itself years ago and told Uncle Sam to stay out of the auto business. They certainly should have told them to get lost a few months ago. I cannot imagine trying to operate a business with an office in house for one of Uncle Sam's Czars. Bankruptcy alone would have given them a second chance, but bankruptcy with a major owner headquartered in Washington, D.C. is a death sentence.

I hope Ford survives and will give them a good shot at my future business. This Chevy lover disdains the thought of sending my hard earned dollars to Government Motors.

I'm not a Ford fan, but if you just compare what they're doing with the F350/450 series and what Chevy offers now in the 3500 series it's obvious that Chevy has been asleep at the wheel(oh, god!). The chevy product looks nice, but it is starved for features vs the Ford.

I have a 08 Suburban and an 01 Silverado, owned a 2007 dually and looks like I'll be sitting out this next purchase if Chevy becomse www.Chevy.gov

Can't stand the idea of paying the Obama Administration for my next dually.

the show last night (how the wheels came off) basicly said gms legacy costs killed em, have twice as many people getttin checks and benefits than those on the payroll gettin checks and benefits killed em:(

as close to communism as one can get... just wait til the government owns all of our big corporations. every city already looks the same..walgreens, walmart, burgerking mcdonalds wendys taco bell.. no matter where you go its all the same stores. and most of these places are actually under huge corporations that run not one of them but several

The US car makers inploded. They have been building in around $4k in each car they build and sell now just to pay the pensions and benefits to the retired workers. The UNIONS killed the auto industry in this country not the government....

I belong to a union myself (Carpenters Union) and even I'll say the average wage for a UAW member was rediculously high...:eek:

If your asking so much money that your company cant afford to keep the doors open, its time to re-evaluate your contract!

Not just unions, but lotsa CEOs in companies across the US get stupidly big paychecks... Greed is what is destroying the American business climate...:(

Very true.

I'm a Chevy guy as well, at least until this.
Now I grant it, I'm driving a 10 year old Tahoe, but I've always liked Chevy.
Not so much now.
I don't want to pay Obama any more than my taxes dictate.

Chrystler is going Itallian, at least it's not Taiwan, but it's still no longer really an American companny.

Now that leaves Ford.
I've never really been a Ford guy, but they are American and they did not take the Govt (our) money,
but rather decided to work their way out of the current situation on their own.
To me, this is comendable and I'll probably be looking at Ford for my next auto purchase(s)
