Glove Recommendation

KLIM GLOVES SUCK they're not even close to the same quality of their other gear...NO contest!

YUP!!! I was really disappointed in my Klim gloves and boots. The gloves were not warm or waterproof. They didnt last very long either. The boots came apart in about 6 rides. Not what I expected for the price I paid. The rest of the gear is worth every penny though.

BTW......great thread. I was just about to do a search to figure out what kind of gloves to buy. Are you guys using the storms or powder storms? Im going to order a pair and am leaning towards the powder storms.

i havent been able to find a great pair for many years. everything lately seems to have liners that when you pull your hand out it comes with bout half way then ya gotta fix it. the non liner mits seem too thin and not durable. and none have the cuff, where did that ever go? i know when im digging out the big long cuff keeps the snow off the wrist and pretty much your whole forearm. i still have them old gloves and wear em but their wore out in the seams finally, i bought them in the late nintys. i think they are hot fingers with a leather palm and finger bottoms with goretex top and cuff. yea like, the best ever

cabelas gloves pretty much like u described and keep hands warm and dry

Another vote for TNA Storm Gloves!!!!! Never thought that glove would perform but I can honestly say I have never experienced anything better. Always warm, always dry, just can't beat them!!!!!!!!

Klim does a lot of things well but I can honestly say that gloves are not one of them......

I've tried many types of gloves. Bought Klim Powdercross and Klim Inversion last year, but I hated the grip on the powdercross (or lack of, what were they thinking?), i prefer gloves with leather or rubbery bumps on the palms so they stick to the bars, saved my butt many times. Had real good luck with Joe Rocket goretex street bike gloves, super sticky, waterproof, and not too hot and not too much padding (sizing is wierd though, i found them short fingered, so try before buying, and expensive in my area). I prefer to have little to no padding on palm and then a light insulating, waterproof on top of hands...that way i have less hand/wrist fatigue when hanging off the side all day. Liner/shell gloves are just too warm for me (in golden/revy), I do keep a pair in the pack incase of an overnighter or high speeed trail ride home when cold/wet. I'm surprised Klim didn't do a better job on their gloves, i also bought the lighter Inversion glove of theirs, much better grip, but it's a bit too thin (almost like a mechanix glove), not enough protection from wind/water (if they had another 1/4 inch insulation on the top, they would rock). Anyone know where i can find a larger selection of mechanix glvoes to try on in around Calgary? their website shows many cold weather mechanics type gloves, perhaps they would be good for me. I think i'll try on these TNA glvoes, sounds decent, good reviews on here.

Got back from my first weekend trying out the TNAs. Not impressed at all! I cant believe how much water those things hold! I got to the cabin halfway through the day to thaw them out. They wieghed about 3 pounds each with all of the snow and ice stuck to them. Warmed them up and wrung about a cup of water out of each glove.

For the price of these things they should be at least a little waterproof shouldnt they?

TNA VS. RU Outside Teton

I had a pair of TNA powderstorms and they were great, the only thing I didn't like is I would end up with big "Ice Globs" on the ends of my fingers at the end of the day. My hands never got cold or wet though. I now have the Tetons and they are far and away the best glove I have ever owned. Wore them in 20 below and saturated them with a bunch of snow and hands stayed warm and dry with zero ice buildup. My vote goes for the tetons.

I am happy to hear this about the teton. with all the good coments about the tna's i was wondering about my decision to get the tetons. :)

I have all every version of Klim gloves and they all work as they should. No complaints. I did pick up a pair of Scott Warrior gloves. They appear to be built very well, relatively thin but insulated, sticky stuff on the palm and full GoreTex. Test results to follow.

I received a pair of Klim gloves as a present. I tried them today for a little ride and it was only 3 degrees. My hands didn't get cold but for some reason my hands rarely do get cold. I dont know what they are called but they are the really thin type. I hate big puffy gloves. I did have my hand warmers on and I do have hand guards.

just got a pair of grandoe gloves from cabelas. Before I left the store I went into the bathroom and ran them under water, not a drop of water. Palm is leather, overall construction seams good. Have not rode with them yet. gloves were 65$. I have had bad luck with almost every glove, not saying the gloves are bad. Seams that the problem I have is the gloves dont seam to breath and they get wet from the inside out from sweat. So I started carrying 5 pairs of gloves. Mechanics style, 2 thin and 1 thick insulated, and one pair of mittens for the ride home.

2 years ago I bought a pair of REI mountaineering gloves (I think they are now the switchback). They have a fleece liner and waterproof layer in them. I love the gloves as my hands are always dry and warm. I noticed a hole starting between the fingers last year and last week I melted the rubber on my throttle thumb with the warmer. I went into REI today looking for a repair kit and they said to bring them in for an exchange. That is what I will do later this week :D I don't really like shopping there but I can't beat that warranty.

Just switched to the TNA glove. Have couple pair of Klim and also have couple pair of RU gloves laying around. The RU glove is to thin IMO and the Klim's are a little better, but fall apart at least for me after a few rides. Klim's also fit a little big and tend to ball up on my palms, when they get wet and irritate the h#ll out of my hands. Really like the TNA glove, wish I hadn't wasted my time and $$$ on the others. Love the Klim coat and bibs, but not a big fan of their gloves.................
