Glove Recommendation

I am in the market for some new gloves. I was checking out the True Adventure gear at the Snow show, and the gal claimed that you could stick your hand in a bucket of water and be dry. While I doubted it, and conveniently there was no bucket of water anywhere close.

I sometimes go through 3 pairs of gloves in a day as I have not found any that really stay dry after a few hours of riding and a few sticks.

Your thoughts are welcome. Thanks.

I tried the TNA's on but were too small, and those were the 3xl's! Do they stretch out any? They were close, but I'm not going to spend $70 on a pair of gloves that are too small!

p.s.-sorry if I hijacked your thread!

No problem Motley. I don't have them, so I don't know if they stretch, but I bet someone can help you out with that one.

Big T you don't happen to work for TAG by any chance do you :D

It would be a lot cheaper if I did work for them Codemain!

Just so you know, there are several threads on this every year. You'll get people who like Klim, HMK, True Adventure, etc. I had to buy a few different sets and see what worked best for me.

Motley, I didn't have the same problem as you. I think mine are 2Xl or something. IIRC, they do stretch a bit but I wouldn't buy them super tight and expect them to stretch to fit your size.

I am going to buy some True Adventure Gear gloves this next month. For those of you that have them, do they fit a little small so should I plan on ordering the next size larger than what I normally wear?

The True Adventure gloves are worth the money and a very good buy.

I am hard on gloves and can honestly say these are the bestest, warmest, dryest, best dam powder gloves made:D

I have a closest full of gloves that did not work, anybody want them:(

Gloves

I have a pair of Klim powercross and a pair of Klim towgette glove! I wear the towgette if it gets really cold but both are awesome gloves!!

True north adventure...True adventure gear...Whatever the name is they're awesome gloves.
My wife has them and her hands used to ALWAYS got wet and cold but not with these.
I don't have mutant hands so I could probably find a pair to fit me!

KLIM GLOVES SUCK they're not even close to the same quality of their other gear...NO contest! they fall apart and the dealer where I bought them admits they've had to replace almost all of the KLIM gloves they sold last year.
Mine have not fallen apart yet but I only wear them when it's really cold on the trail to get to the play area then I change them. They don't get much use.
The dealer told me to bring them back "When they fall apart" (Good Dealer)

I wear "RU Outside gloves and love them.

What kind of gloves are in your closet?

Rather than a brand lets focus on construction and material.

I think the best gloves are ones with an outer "shell" and then you wear an internal "soft" glove.

I have an outer shell glove and "multiple" inner shell glove liners of various thickness to wear at temperatures.

For the liners I go with a synthetic micro fleece inner and a POLARTEC exterior or COOLMAX or GORE-TEX for wicking.

Wet hands .... take off gloves remove liners ... wring out moisture (if any) and reuse. Really nice stuff.

The best glove material today IMHO is SCHOELLER SHELL FABRIC.

It is made of Codura , Lycra and other polymides.

There are various forms of SCHOELLER special fabrics.

So a glove can have multi layers of various SCHOELLER materials.

the two best suited for us is DRYSKIN , DYNAMIC and KEPROTEC

The aramide-fabric with space technology. Five times stronger than steel, gram for gram. Extremly tear and abrasion resistant. Fashionable looks, comfortable, durable , flexible and easy to care for.

For the PALMS and figertips... PITTARDS ARMORTAN ... special treated mountain goat leather designed for rock and rope rappelling.

Find a glove with these material and you will really appreciate the technology.

AND yes NASA uses these materials for space suit gloves.

True North Adventure are THE best !!!

I almost need to get a second pair because they tend to get a little wet from me actually sweating a little! Need to shut the hand warmers off when riding hard!

The are sized right for me. I bought a large and that is what I normally wear.

A little advice - be really careful taking them off as to not pull the lining out of the fingers. It can be tough to get the lining straightened out again. She told when I bought them to pull the glove off your thumb just a little, and then grab all the tips of the rest of the fingers at the same time and pull the glove off. She told me this after I messed up one of her display pairs. I have since done as she told me and I have never had a problem.

Hey Snow Fox - I bought a pair of TNA powder storms this summer and had to send them back for a larger pair. I found they do fit a tiny bit smaller than other gloves.

As far as their performance i wont be able to comment until end of year.

I LOVE my tna powder storm gloves. I forget how long I've had mine, 3 or 4 seasons maybe 5. They allow the warmers to warm my hands, have great grip, and are very durable. I'm finally getting a small tear in the thumb seam, though it doesn't affect the glove's effectiveness. Like most folks I've been through a few gloves, these are hands down my favorite. I just bought another pair for my backup pair.

I bought a pair of klim klimate gloves last season and the seams tore after just a couple times wearing them. Very poorly constructed and they won't refund my $$, only replace them.

liners are crap

i havent been able to find a great pair for many years. everything lately seems to have liners that when you pull your hand out it comes with bout half way then ya gotta fix it. the non liner mits seem too thin and not durable. and none have the cuff, where did that ever go? i know when im digging out the big long cuff keeps the snow off the wrist and pretty much your whole forearm. i still have them old gloves and wear em but their wore out in the seams finally, i bought them in the late nintys. i think they are hot fingers with a leather palm and finger bottoms with goretex top and cuff. yea like, the best ever

The ONE pair of gloves that I absolutley loved were actually Burtons. They didn't have a liner, plenty warm, very thin in the palm and fingers, a cuff, and after 3 seasons, I finally out-grew them!

same size as moto gloves...in fact i probably could have gone a size smaller.

Awesome gloves and AWESOME service. had a pair of the normal gloves and the velcro ended up stuck onto a car seat(3 year old playing with them) Well when I pulled the glove, the velcro tab ripped right out.

Sent them into TNA to see if they would fix them. They said they couldn't without compromising the water proofness, but that they would send me a new pair(warranty was expired) for the cost of shipping so like 5 bucks.

Well I said sure, great deal....turns out they had run out of the glove in my size, so they upgraded me to the gauntlet model(i think 20 dollars more a pop) and honored the original deal of shipping.

Are the insulated mx glove any good?

I have a pair of Fox Therma Paws...not really insulated but water proof. Well worth 40 bucks for warm days.

I have worn the taking out boat lifts and docks and putting them in and been dry. Wore them last year working a hare scramble in the rain and mud. After helping pick up and move 75-100 bikes all day, I was the only guy out of 50 that had the first pair of gloves I used that day and had dry warm hands.

It was cool out and I could see the steam evaporating out of the gloves.
