Global warming?? Wheres my coat?

Man made global warming, just like the economic melt down was and is seen as an excuse to further their political aims.

Should we do things better?
Of cource, but don't sit there and tell me the world will end if we don't do it RIGHT NOW.

HAHA so many noses bent out of shape... Holy cow..LMAO

Ollie, where in your article did it say global warming??

Let me try to edumacate you tards.
Studies show there is a warming of the earth as a whole, I believe it has increased 0.32 °F during the last century. It may not seem like a lot, but enough to melt polar caps faster and keep once frozen channels open during the winters.
How many U.S. towns would be underwater, let alone the state of Florida if the water rose 1 meter? Not that it matters...

I myself think there is a warming of the earth as a whole. not just "aww man my summer is the coolest ever, so it is not happening.."

Be it from Human causes? I doubt it, the forests of the world give off 1000% more CO2 in the evening than all the cars combined.

We are on the outskirts an ice age, and history has proven that temp fluctuations occur all the time.

So if all you sally think I insulted you, well you probably deserve it.:face-icon-small-coo

Correct me if I am wrong, but I was taught in school that forests (trees, etc) convert CO2 into oxygen (O2). If forests infact cause CO2, then what on earth cleans it all up?

Furthermore, don't cars produce largely Carbon MONOXIDE (CO)?

I realize I have been out of school for a few years, but I am pretty sure of this^^^.

It has been proven that global climate change occurs on its own and these small temperature swings are completely normal, as much as the environmentalists would like us to believe otherwise.

Yes, during the day, but the opposite in the evening.

That is what a catalytic converter is for.

I agree

Marcuso
You would be correct.
World temps as a whole have increased over the last 1000 years or so.
If they hadn't, we would still be under a few feet of ice from the last ice age.
HOWEVER......
All the current data shows we are headed into a mini-ice age that is estimated to last from 20 - 30 years with temps falling. We won't be seeing florida under ice, but you will see lower temps world wide and more ice build up at either pole.

As for the tard comment, we were just poking fun at the global warming nuts and talking about how cool this summer has been, that is until you came along and turned it into a name calling session.

But hey, what do we expect from the queen of unsigned red.

LMFAO, guess I will refrain from making any comments about the weather again, would not want to start a "hate" thread.

Who was name calling? I said
This thread just makes us sledders look like uneducated retards.

Guess if someone was retarded, they could take it seriously....:rolleyes:

I still believe some were actually serious. Just making the point that global warming is not "this summer's local forecast"... it is data recorded over the last 130 years... 'tis all.

Geeze Marco, even I know they were just talking about their personal experiences. Exactly what do you want them to say, even the freaking experts don't understand all of the interaction that summate to accurately predict future temperature trends, it's too complicated.

Now, what the heck do you want a formula or something.

Yha, plants take in CO2 during the day, and emits it during the night. It's lifetime net intake of CO2 is positive, you know this because the plant is a carbon based life form, and almost all the carbon came from CO2. For example half the weight of a tree is water, a quarter of the weight is carbon, the rest is other stuff, nitrogen, minerals, etc...

The exact equation goes something like this

6 CO2 + 12 H2O + Energy => C6H12O6 + 6 O2 + 6 H2O
CO2 + H20 + light energy => glucose(sugar) + O2 + H2O

The reason for 12 H20 going in, and 6 coming out, is because the light phtons are only powerful enough to partially disassociate the one hydrogen, producing H + HO (hydrogen + hydrogen hydroxide). Breaking the second hydrogen from the oxygen takes much more energy, so you only get some long term recombination. That part I'm not completely clear on, oh well.

At night when the light is gone, the plant burns glucose to stay alive, it's called CELLULAR RESPIRATION

C6H12O6 (glucose sugar) + 6O2 => 6CO2 + 6H2O
It gets "eats" sugar the same way our body does; at night.

People on here aren't stupid. They just like to talk about things they've noticed. Now if this where a greenies sight, everyone would be talking about their "emotional feelings".

Troll on.

Why 130 years? On a 4 billion year old planet, why is that time frame relevant?

You all are talking about regional warming, and cooling, not global.

Educate yourself about the theory before you comment....This thread just makes us sledders look like uneducated retards.

yea, no insult there:rolleyes:

I read the title...

oops I thought this thread was about global warming... my bad.:eek:

Wade, go back and read the posts... to answer your question about the 130 years.

Just referring to your statement, which though technically accurate, is very misleading.
"Be it from Human causes? I doubt it, the forests of the world give off 1000% more CO2 in the evening than all the cars combined."

I searched the entire thread for 130, nowhere but my question, and your statement.

The good news is, I'm not that smart. I screwed up the hydrogen disassociation part. In plants, it's a two step process, that fully disassociates the hydrogens. My bad. I was thinking of a stream reformer for hydrogen generation. Sorry. Luckily there's google.
