This fall i had to replace all of the gas line from the pickup line in the gas tank to the pumps to the carbs. what i found is that the pickup line got so brittle that it cracked and broke off in the gas tank (it was a bitch to fish it out of the tank). And obviously if theres a crack in the line, the vacuum system doesnt work, so it wont suck up any gas.

I'm also an advocate for the water pump belt, thats a biggie. Another thing I didn't see mentioned is the motor torque stop that pushes from the bulkhead on the clutch side. I noticed on mine the rubber had dissenigrated and when revving the engine I could watch the motor move about an inch rearward from the torque. I also had a broken front motor mount on the clutch side.
