Im looking for a used Generator to buy. I dont know much about it. I want to use it for my power tools, they are running with 120 or high volts.
Any brand as long as it has enough volts to run my power tools.
I dont know how much watts it require to run my power tools.

grinder, driller, power saw, and some more kind of tool for metal and wood. I use the grinder and driller most of time.
In case for ice storm, I will use the heater, I have two or three small heaters.

I have a 5K Coleman. Runs all my tools well. 8 1/4" skill, drills, grinder, table saw. I can only hold one at a time but no problems at all.

If you get a 5000 watt run 6500 watt surge generator it will run most any power tool. It will run a gas furnace to.

I have a 6500w in my RV. It runs lights, AC, furnace and Microwave. Haven't tried more yet.

My brother has an RV generator that he wants to get rid of. If you are interested, get in touch and I'll ask him what and how much.

Pretty easy way to figure out what you need. Watts = amps x volts. So if you have 120v drill pulling 8 amps you need at least 960 watts. Find your highest amp drawing tool and see what you will require.

Maddog21,

Consider establishing a base line of your power needs. Start by calculating your power consumption of the three (3) electric heaters that you will use. Add the power consumed by your largest power drawing hand tool. This should establish your base line power needs.

Just like your normally aspirated snowmobile your generator will de-rate 3-ish% per 1000' in elevation gain.

A generator with the "smart idle” is worth your consideration. Additionally, compair Db ratings before you pull the trigger on your purchase.

Have fun, Craig.
