Generac Vs. Cummins/Onan

I don't have any experience with generators other than what I've read has basically said the Cummins/Onan gensets are the best and quietest. They're also ungodly expensive.

A comparable Generac generator of the same output is roughly 1/2 the price of the Cummins/Onan.

So how much noisier are the generacs?

Trying to get a generator spec'd for this new trailer I ordered thats capable of running 2 13.5kbtu AC units in the summer time for not my left nut.

generac is a nice generator for the money. If you want quiet and want to spend alot, buy a honda. Most others are about the same noise level. It is $$$ verses noise, what is more important.

I've got an Onan 4500 in my trailer, and I've been happy with it so far. It will run everything in my trailer with ease. It's a little noisy when it first starts up, but after about 2 minutes it goes quiet, and you don't even realize it's on.

I don't know, I think my Onan 4000 built in is noisy but I think it has more to do with being the tinny enclosure it sits in on my Jayco.

I have heard the Yamahas or Hondas are good, quite generators, at least for their portable units.

What did you guys pay for your Cummins/Onan generators? Were they the quiet RV-style generator?

I've been comparing Generac RV generators to the C/O RV generators and the Generac ones are less than half the price of the C/O ones.

Probably wind up going with a 5.5kw Generac it looks like.....

I am generator certified you buy a generac u will be sorry Onan are more but you will pay the.difference in repairs on generac.

I'm about to buy a Generac 2000w portable generator, the quiet series, do you have the same negative comments about those?

both my uncle and my grandpa have generac 2000's for there camp trailers, and they both hate them. they are junk, very loud, and my uncles doesn't even power up anything half of the time. they are both switching to the honda 2000's. they are a very nice generator. very quiet too. this is just what we think about the generacs though.

I wound up finding a pretty good deal on a Cummins Onan 5500kW RV generator, so I wound up going that route ... I'm sure I'll be glad I did it sounds like
