Gearing question '05 900

[Minturn 900]

I have an '05 900 with SLP airbox, SLP pipe, and a 151 x 2.4" track. I would like to know what gearing would work best. I haven't checked my gearing but would like to get more track speed and torque. What should I use?

19:41 works very well for an all-round good setup. If you are more into boondocking and a lower speed gear setup, then go 19:42... That's what most of the 166 guys are going to on the 06s, very good setup.

If its an 05 and you go 19/42 you will have to get a new chain I went 18/40 and the stock chain works great. This gear ratio really woke my sled up.

haha, dang, I didn't even notice you said it was an 05

yup, 19/42 will be too big so 18/40 is what you would want to have the lowest gear set. I am running 18/39 on my 05 166 and am very happy with the performance and speed, it topped out at 78 mph @ 7850 rpm on the way back to the truck a few weeks ago

YES..stock chain..best gearing for that model..and the 900 (06)

I haven’t had a look inside the chain case yet, just waiting on Kreg’s cover to show up before I crack it open. However on my guard it was written by the previous owner 18/39 any one running this gear? It’s 05 900 / 166 Track, last 2 seasons all has been great and pulls hard on the hills goes where I want to go.

I am running 18:39 on my 05 900 166 and am extremely happy with the performance on it, no complaints here

Me too, I am running the 18/39 on my 05 151 and love it! It pulls Hard and the clutches are staying real cool.

I am running the 19-43 combo and just love it. But I got the 166" track.
I would do what 94 ford guy says.
That would be my best guess for your track length.
