Gearing for RT 1000

I ride an 05 RT 1000 162" track. I was wondering if anyone has played with the gearing on this machine. I am mostly climbing and boondocking. As is right now my sled will do about 102mph on the lake on hardpack. Don't think I need to go that fast lol. I haven't yet counted the teeth on the top sprocket yet but if anyone has any advice on this I would appreciate it.

I put in nine tooth drivers because I didnt want a 19 t top gear. you will also want to change the chain and top gear to the 15 wide set up that the 07 has because you will break links with the 13 wide for sure. that set up works good and will let the belt ride up in the clutch better.

what is the stock.... i have 7 tooth 3 pitches that are smaller then the 9 tooth stock pitch.

From what I hear you should keep the gearing pretty high... what kind of track speed do you pull on a climb??

i actually need to gear mine up, i might be interested in a top gear trade.

I think the stock top gear for the 162 was a 21T w/ 10T drivers. I'm not 100% but I thought the 151's came with a 23T top...I could be wrong as I've never been into the chain case on a 151. On my 05 162 I kept the gearing in the chaincase the same, dropped to a 9T driver and it pulls great compared to stock drivers / stock gearing. Not sure if it's a tunnel clearance issue, a gearing issue, or a combination of both. Not sure what the track speed I pull is (extremely tiny speedo reading on my '05 X) but she's definitely a goat.

Me too, I run the 9t drivers and stock gearing. This year I tried dropping down one tooth to a 20, but it just wasn't right, put it back to 21 and all is good.
Oh, I also went with the 15 wide chain set up, stronger.

Thanks for the input guys I appreciate it. As far as track speed goes I've never really checked as the speedo is so tiny on the 05 RT lol. And as far as changing the drivers I assume we are talking about the Track drivers in the tunnel and right now mine are a 10 tooth. Any info on where I could purchase the 9t drivers would be appreciated. And how much of a pain would it be to do it myself, or should I let my dealer tackle it.

I have 3800 hard mountain miles induced by large amount of Nitrous and I am still on my original 13" wide chain.

Running: 20/49 with stock drivers.
Roller secondary with a 44/47 helix, pulls like a locomotive on steroids

this is on a 05.5 with a 159"

Tried the following: 21/49 20/49 19/49 19/51 20/51
I prefer the 20/51 with the stock drivers with a 45-48mph track speed. Also i will add i still run the 13wide chain as well and have no problems. I think people were just not making sure the chain adjustment was done frequently.

Same as me with the stock 10 tooth drivers with the 162". I also have the 13 wide with over 3500miles with NO issues.

I am packing 51 to 55 mph track speed. You gear these to low and forget it--these are a torque motor.

H20SKE...

the 06's had probs with the chain on 1000 and 800 alike. skidoo under warranty changed mine to a 15 plate chain after my stock 13 broke links in the first 100 miles. I am currently running 20/51 with 10 tooth drivers
