FS 5078 - no snow, back side of Stampede Pass

It is not possible to do the loop behind Stampede Pass from FS Road 5080 / FS Road 5078. There is absolutely no snow on the low side near Lester. They did however clear the main log jam on the back way from Meadow Pass. There was a major slide there last fall.

Here is a pic from the area near Meadow Pass. The one with my sled is in an area that was nearly 15 degrees colder. It was very strange to have such a vast difference in this area SW of Stirrup Lake. You can see by the snow and ice on the trees how much colder it is there.

We tried to make that loop Saturday night came around the corner no snow on the road, on the trees, or under the trees and we were still several hundred feet above the valley floor. I've seen the snowline creep up the mountain before but it looked like there was a definite cut off line, not even a trace.
