Frustrated

So here's the skinny. I have a 12 1100T. 700 miles. Stock other than a straight pipe. The last few rides I have been having ratcheting problems. Or at least I think. First found the track a little loose, so I tightened it to spec. Next thought I had it figured out when I found a rear wheel delaminated. Fixed it. Today, still ratcheting (or sounding like it). Tried a little more track tightening, got worse. Thought a worn belt (since it has 700 miles on it) might be messing with the clutch. Installed a new belt, same problem. I have a few ideas kicking around in my head, but wanna hear what you guys might think is the problem? Just sounds and feels like the track is trying to jump right off of the driver or something is going to snap in half. More apparent on the brake side. It ratchets most at hard acceleration, but also does it moving 5 mph, or off the gas coasting.

X2 on the chain -it's most likely the problem. Mine was doing the same.
You will probably have some gear damage as well.

I am assuming the skid is aligned/centered just by checking where the rails line up with the knobs (for lack of a better term). I was leaning to the chain at the start of the day due to the problems that I have heard others are having with the auto tensioner. The only thing that made me think otherwise was the sound apearing to be coming from the opposite side. I see no way that the drive could be jumping in the track with the factory anti-ratchet?

Check you chain .. & 700 miles you should look at it ensure it us tightened to spec.. only other thing ther is the secondary- pull it to inspect it

If the chain case is good...

look at your slide rails and make sure they are not bent.

Just got everything apart enough to look in that fancy oil fill hole on the chaincase. From what I could see of the chain, I will be dropping it off at the dealership this week and paying my $50 deductable.
Only bad thing is, if it is the auto tensioner that has fully extended, they will just replace OEM parts and I will have to do this all over again at my own expense down the road. Hopefully the chaincase is not to bad, I heard they were a month or so out on backorder.

Check the bolts on the back of your secondary. They shear off or come loose. Terrible vibration. You can hear the chain in the case when you have problems there or at least I could when I lost my chain and top gear.

Your dealer should be able to work with you and credit you the cost of stock parts towards stronger gears and chain

Now that would be a first....
They will only cover OEM cost, and weigh the mods against that too.
A good dealer will get you on the snow as soon as they can- but will not for-go the cost difference..
If you come across one please let us know:face-icon-small-coo

The cause....

I haven't got to take a look at it yet, but my dealer told me that when the reverse recall was done by another dealer, that they had placed two washers in the wrong spot. This was causing some major wear in the chaincase. Now I am in need of two new chains, four sprockets, part of the auto tensioner, and an outer chaincase half.
****ty thing is, riding seasons over on this sled as some of the parts are backordered till April. Are you kidding me? April? This sled has been out for 2 years now!!!!!

Today might just be your lucky day. I blew my chaincase up and ordered all the parts to fix it including a outer chaincase half. I have everything except a chain. Won't be needing any of it as I've got a beltdrive now. PM me if you'd be interested in some of it.

How has your beltdrive been working, and what HP are you running?

i have blown my gears out of my chain case several times. the automatic tensioner is a pile of ****. my friend put the manual tensioner out of a 12 sno pro 600, it seems to do the job. but the parts are on back order. hate the word back order.

I think...

they didn't see this coming! Why else wouldn't they have replacement parts out there. They have moved their supply and are... or maybe they aren't scrambling? 500 miles and I'm fixing the chain and gears!
