Emilie tried the monster 3 times and turned out 2/3rds way up and came back down......wow, I sure wouldn't come down it ... greesy and fast... snow was really cornie yesterday....power robbing and you need a long track in this stuff...She only has a 154" but her RK teck 860 kit was really ripping and she almost got it done first by a lady.... but it was way more impressive turning out way up there and coming down than making it out easy... but she wanted it bad... good try Emilie... better conditions you'd have it.... Frenchie then tried the Monster with his 860 Skidoo and on his 3rd try got it done.... I climbed the Gash twice in my Pj's... thats gotta be a first, eh????? Then the monster bit me... took a chomp out of my leg... I was bit by the monster... needed a ski pull to get out of er... great footage though.... then the angry pirate gave me a smack... needed a ski pull to finish it... but Frenchie on his second try got it done... awesome!!!!!!!!! and he got stuck on his first try and came down out of the angry pirate..... Felix you rock... an amazing display of courage and skill... that chute is for turbos only!!!!! well not anymore.... Than at the end of the day he put his sled in the Irmens arm chute... and stuck it 150 - 200 ft from the top... to deep and slushy for a 154" track with not enough jam.... it really sucks climbing down 200 ft into the arm.... very steep and scary... plus the cornice was raining into the chute... Angel slipped and slid past his sled, but he caught her.... climbing back out after we turned him around wasn't much fun either.... Awesome day, awesome weather... good fun with good friends.... unloading just pass the turtle entrance... very little dirt to ride up on... Turtle should be good for 2 weeks still and boulder should be good for another 7 weeks... Amy post some pics please.. I know angel had her camera out too..... Krazy Canadian Adventures 3 teaser should be ready this weeek...dvd cover is complete too... pre -orders will be accepted this week also.... It's gonna be a really fun movie, with amazing first ascents, epic climbs... Huge cliff drops.... and two death defying wrecks... dozens of wild crashes... and some funny stuff too.... Paul,,,, that angry pirate chute is wild... no reason to climb it if you hadn't.... Irmen.... there's no reason to climb the arm either.... it's way too steep and scary... way scarier than the face of the Norns.....

The Troy boys were out in force.... I heard AFTER I had my attempts at Monster that Larry officially said he didn't think his 12-hundy would pull it that day!!! the snow as NASTY!!! he might have given her a run before I trashed it and made it but he saved it for me to have a fresh run at the old rts! hahahhaha.... Larry and Kev hit some of the Airport chutes and even topping out of those in that heavy slush was exciting! (Oh, and they are up there all weekend so if they got an early start it MIGHT have been hard enough for them to go back to Monster and tame it! I think they werre heading for Turtle though and I heard that the snow up there was a little better cause it was higher and not so wet and heavy!)

Ok, I have time for a quick update before Amy and I head out to hit up more today! We're back in Castlegar now, got in about 1:00 Friday night... Rough drive!!!

Well... let me just say the morning was BRUTAL!! We had some people that decided to tag along and come up later, I wanted to get an EARLY start but had to wait, and wait and wait, all the while my guts were churning and my nerves were a MESS!!! I'd never even LOOKED at this bad boy and I was gonna attempt it?!?!? My first real chute was two weekends ago in prime conditions and not NEARLY as gnarly of a chute, and I was gonna attempt this thing?!?!? I just kept wondering what in the HECK I was thinking!! hahahhahaha, and all the while thinking, SLEDBETTIES NEEDS IT! If I make it it will crack the world of chick climbing open and provide great footage... If I don't we have great carnage footy -'cause to me it was either make it or wreck trying! hahahhaha, I really thought that the chute was just gonna be NUTS once i got in it....

The whole trip had started off on bad notes all around, the bad omens were PLENTIFUL and making my nerves even worse! My truck wouldn't start to head out onthe trip... On the way up Larry had lost his helmet bag with his lid, beacon and gloves out of the back of his truck... Both Larry and me forgot our socks... Amy had driven her for sale truck all the way to Revy to have the guy say it was making a noise in 4 wheel drive that she needed to have check out before he would buy it... Motleyone broke down in the parking lot...

Anyway, riding in, FINALLY, we have me, Tom (who SOOOOOO came through for me and COMMITED to taking me in there and filming it for me), Larry and Kevin on their 1200s, Amy and her BF Justin (with camera), ridinhigh (and had to leave motleyone int he parkinglot for a few more last min wrenching tricks. Also, Dan Davidhoff had showed up last min and headed in before us and the Frenchie and his GF showed up a tiny bit later in the day....

In we head, nerves still MESSED... Riding like a goon cause my nerves are shot, feeling how heavy and wet the snow is and PRAYING the chute has stayed cold enough to keep the snow hard.... No one else hitting chutes seems worried about it, yeah, they're on turbos!! We get in there and I guess, find this out later, that Larry took one look at it and said his sled couldn't make it in this snow! The mighty 1200 couldn't make it and I decided to give it a whirl; out of pure stubborness and stupidity!!

So yeah, 3 GOOD attempts, 4 turn outs, 2 right up in the gut, 1 stick up in there cause the guys told me to, I made it up over the last little bench but my front end came WAY up and I couldn't hold her pinned any more... stuck...

Got a few different angles of it for SB, should be some good footage and some scary turn outs right in the gut!! Wish the conditions had been better but I wasn't about to back down after all the effort that went into getting there and getting someone to film it! Plus, really, it wasn't that nasty!! Couldn't make it but no carnage dang it, still no carnage footage for sledbetties!!

After that we went over to the airport chutes and I topped out of Redemption, Amy made a DANG good go of her and I was SUPER proud of her for her first tighter chute hit! The snow was just nasty and really hard to carry speed in....

Oh well, we had a great day and pushed ourselves up a few good chutes!

Oh, here is Dan Davidhoff's write up on the day, even he needed a ski pull out the top and admitted the conditions just weren't even close to right for NA sleds. However, the Frenchie did tame it, man I need to loose about 40 lbs and need to learn how to dance on my sled cause he WORKED his 860 up it; guess I have a few tricks to learn for sure!

One of the HUGE ics chunks I narrowly missed on my ballhoot back down the Monster!

Super bummed I didn't get to got top out pics and footy for you guys but if I'm up there next year when the conditions are right maybe I'll at least go for it again and have a story for you! It's just so hard to line up all the other aspects it's hard to get all the stars aligned for the little sleds to make it up her! (although, no joke, my 860 was RIPPING!!!! Holy HECK I love that sled!!!)

I'm sure you could have done the Monster in the corn snow we just had, the 151 pegger hooks up great in the conditions we just had... Your wreck IS the nastiest I've ever heard of and the carnage left behind,,, very Krazy... bummmer dude.... next yr will be here really fast, better get your parts and start fixing..

Hey Dan,

It was nice talking to you on the trail when you were comin off the mountain on Friday. My sled blew out the oil filter gasket so I had to go get it fixed. Frenchie, Angel and my group all rode again the next day and Frenchie flat tore it up again. He climbed the upper lake shoot and campout. He took a poke at the mile as well but stuck it below the corner, I was gonna pull it but the trench was huge, maybe next weekend. Here some pics of us to add to this post if you don't mind. Maybe we can hook up next weekend with the Impulse boys and ride Castlegar a day. Don't be mistaken, Frenchie's sled flat rips, the snow was no where near perfect. There were icy patches, big snow boulders, greasy sliding all over. It was very unpredictable but that made it all the more of a rush to full pull the lines.
