FOX vs Walker Evans

Hi!

First, sorry for my bad english :)

Dident find anything new info on this topic.

I have a brand new pro-rmk and wondering if I should buy the Burandt's Backcountry Edition fox Replacement Kit. I have been riding snowmobile for 3 seasons now. Whats your opinion on the WE against the FOX?

Will my sled be better to ride with the fox?

Thanks, Jaahn

I know you asked specifically about fox and walker, but if you're gonna spend the money on shocks I'd go all the way with either raptors or exit. Assuming you can swing that kind of money.....

Jaan,

For about 75% of the PRO-RMK riders out there ... the stock shock package, as delivered, is an excellent shock absorber package on the PRO-RMK.

Another 15% are outside of the norm for weight or riding style (I include both the weight of the rider AND Gear)

For the other 10% that ride in a more extreme way or are generally very aggressive rider then the improvements make a lot of sense.

It is best to be honest and make a list of those things that you want the shocks to do for you.

Many will post here about their own personal experience... best to ask HOW they use their sled, what do they wiegh plus what gear do they haul, Do they do a lot of mogul bashing or jumping... or are they mostly riding in powder.

Some will claim that a particular shock installation helps to keep their front end down better... this is a false statement unless the spring has changed or the preload has been adjusted to provide a stiffer rear track shock and/or softer front track shock.

Proper Valving and proper springs for your weight and riding style, wether from stock shocks, or aftermarket shocks will make the big difference in weather or not the sled performs as you want.

Some people are just the right weight, ride their PRO RMK's in just the way that the factory specified the shock package... get outside of that "normal range" and you can improve the character of your sled with re-valve or shock upgrades.

The shock options that have been proven on this sled and are readily available are.

- Stock Walker Evans on the PRO RMK

- Slightly modified Walker Evans from the PRO RMK
> Holz Valving upgrade (Both valving and/or Remote reservoir adjustm
> Carl's cycle valving upgrade using FOX Zero-pro pistons (Hi flow)
> Toms Snowmobile Valving Upgrade using 2013 Fox Bleed shim

- Fox shocks from Carl's cycles, Carls offers their own custom valving calibration on the FOX shocks that they working in close cooperation with the factory. Zero-PRO coil spring shocks and the Air-Spring FLOAT2, FLOAT R-EVOL, FLOAT X-EVOL

- Z-BROZ EXIT shock... both in the non adjustable X-0 and the compression adjustable X-1. Very high quality units

- Raptor Shocks. Very high quality shocks... Compression and Rebound adjustable with custom made springs.

I have had Fox on all three of my pros and they work very well I have not used the raptors or exits so I couldn't say for those Fox is awesome.

Ok.

Thanks, seems like I need to test my sled more to find out if I need better shocks. But for now I think I will hold on to my WE shocks:)
