Ford V10

I have an 06 F350 single rear wheel, extra cab, 4x4 (work truck). I get between 10 and 12 all the time. I tow often between 5-10k and it tows great. Have just over 73k with no trouble. Have been told that we should be able to get 150k miles without any trouble.

I had one come through the shop today. It was a 2006 E450 12 passenger bus. Its had over 658,000 miles and is still on the original engine. Amazing! I have 2010 with 128,000 and no problems. Another customer with right at 300,000 on his 2000 Excursion and had a couple fuel pumps and one spark plug self eject but that is it. Both have had very good maintenance!

I have a 2005 F-250 with the V10 in it.
Pretty religious about pre-emptive maintenence, but NO mechanical failures other than a fuel pump.

I have the 4.10 rear end and 4x4.
Mileage is HORRIBLE, but I would average around 11.

11 isn't "HORRIBLE" for a V10 w/4.10 gearing.
I am probably averaging under 13 for all around real world (towing, short trips etc) with my F150 w/5.4

We have a work truck, which is either an 01 or 02 V10 automatic.

250,000 miles on the original engine and tranny.

99% of the miles are towing a trailer. I would say around 3-4000 lb load. The truck stays hooked to the trailer almost always.

The truck is not a powerhouse. I would say similar to the 6.0 Chevy, but thumbs up for reliability. Only problem the truck has ever had is it blew one spark plug out, which is common.

7 MPG towing the trailer is the norm.

Winter, Towing in 4x4
I get 6-8mpg.

But, for the most part, I have 160K of trouble free miles on her.

Plan on replacing her in the Fall of 2014 when I pick up one of the new 2015 F-150s.

I have been running F150's for 10 years with one prior to my F250HD I had before this fleet. The newer F150's do an amazing job for small to medium sized loads. My F250 weighed 6000# with my 2012 F150 Supercrew long bed weighing in at 6400#, the F150 would run off and hide from the big block powered HD. The only thing it doesn't do as well is haul a heavy load in the bed.

I took a 3 place enclosed with 3 sleds and 3 people from W. Oregon to 7-Devils Idaho last winter and ran 10 mpg over and 9 mpg back so an average of 9.5 mpg. I was running anywhere from 68-73 on the interstate and with the 5.0 V-8 I could run any hill I pointed up at least 70 mph.

Empty mileage I get about 16.5-17 but I'm usually on the interstate or in the woods so maybe not ideal for comparison. I think 3.55 gears would have worked fine and provided a little better mileage empty, but I liked the sound of the 3.73's for towing the trailer. I have no experience with the EB V-6, but the V10 pulls ok but doesn't have the thrust of a Diesel when pulling.
