Ford will soon be releasing the new 6.7 diesel in their F-series, a Ford built engine and from what I've read so far, they seem to be quite proud of it. Single turbo with a dual pane turbine wheel replaces the twins. Funky intake and exhaust system might play havoc with aftermarket stuff. Still don't like the sound of all this emissions crap though.... I feel it takes away from the trouble free performance that Diesel owners are used to (were used to).

New Ford diesel

I traded my 05 cummins for an 07 cummins. Wanted the last year of the (so called old tech diesel motors).
Not interested in any of the newer stuff. I'm planning on having this rig for a LOONGG time.

I traded my 7.3 Powerstroke for the Dodge 6.7 with that same intention. First 3 months or so I was kicking myself in the azz everytime I went to the pump or the took it to the dealer for problems. Now, after getting rid of all the emissions crap, I expect to have this for a good 150k miles or more.

I have heard the "real world testing" has averaged 17 mpg stock. Just a hair over 400hp and 700lbs stock...... I guess we will see.
To bad I like my 6.4 so much......

If you think the emmissions is bad on the 6.4. Just wait for the 6.7 everything I've read says it will uses liquid urea as the heat source for cleaning the DPF instead of diesel. Sounds like a whole lot more hassle finding it, making sure you don't run out ect. I've yet to hear of any rampant problems with the 6.4L other then some early radiators before the update and personally plan to try and get another one at the very end before the 6.7 comes out. I get a real 14mpg on the average 13 in the winter which is the same as I got with my F150 5.4L

Sorry for the following off topic tangent but I just have to say this. I find all the 7.3L and cummins things funny. We have a 7.3L its durable runs good gets bad mileage with real world driving, can't pull what my 6.4 will, its noisy and doesn't start as good in the winter. Never owned a cummins pickup but we don't miss them in our farm equipment sure they were good but our Iveco's and Mercedes start better and are more fuel efficient with no problems either.

my lly dmax can go further on a tank of fuel with 15L smaller tank and running bigger/wider tires.... i hope they did something about the fuel mileage or a slip tank will be needed when tolling

Word on the street is that the emissions crap can be removed and BIG power can be made from this motor. Also the trans is beefed up considerably compared to what is available now, i cant wait.

sounds like its just a bigger version of the little 4.5L dmax GM was gonna throw in there half tons before the economy went to sh**.

I'm very interested in how this engine will perform.

I have the last year 5.9 Cummins but when I purchase a new pickup, it will be a Superduty. Pending this new motor.

stock 09 king ranch crew did 13s in the 1/4 with the spartan tune! whats wrong with the current motor......so much engineering and tooling costs for a new motor

why? you can mod the hell out of a new 6.7 way more than these strokers and know it'll last with the dpf/egr crap off

If I'm gonna own a Cummins, I'll keep what I have.........but, as far as buying a new pickup I won't buy Dodge or GM. I don't see this new diesel from ford to work perfect right off the get go, proly a few years of getting the kinks completely worked out. Like I said we'll just have to see. In the mean time an upgraded turbo, injectors, trans and fuel pump will be going on the ol 5.9, I plan on keeping it for at least another year.

Ha! I was told their twin turbo was the diesel of the future a couple years ago. What's the deal with that? Oh yeah, it was underpowered and caught on fire.
