For those who run winter wheels and tires

I run the same as Wyo TA....studded Cooper Discoverer M&S. My pal Pecos sells tires as well and that's what he runs too.

Hands down, the best TRUCK winter tire,be sure to stud 'em up and go.I've tried them ALL.You'll get 2-3 winters from them which is a small price 2 pay...IMO....

Merry Xmas all !

Check out the new nokia all weather...amazingly as good as any winter and can be used all season as well...1000k/60 mile tread guarantee...kal tire are estatic on these and they don;t have to recommend any tire..

I've had many types of winter tires and by far the best I've had are Bridgestone Blizzaks (WS-50's I am using right now). Never believed the hype about them but tried tham as they were the only ones available for my vehicle and they are the best. I have them on my wifes Honda Odyssey minivan and it will go anywhere on ice or in snow. My 4wd 3/4ton Chev and 4Runner pale in comparison, even in 4wd, the Odyssey will out accelerate them and get better traction.

I've had Michelin Arctic Alpin's...ice tires. Okay on ice, not as good in snow. Blizzaks beat in both conditions.

Had older Yokohama's (A533) I think. Good tire in snow, not as sharp on ice. Again Blizzaks are better.

Goodyear ?? winters w/studs. Studs make them as good as blizzaks, louder and rougher though. Didn't handle as well.

Nokian winter's (long name begins w/Hak...) good tire also in snow and on ice. Probably closest equal to Blizzaks.

*Only thing w/Blizzaks I'm told that they become derated from a winter tire ti an all-season rating once at 50% tread left, due to rubber compound wearing... Still if you use them for winters only you'll get many seasons from them before they become less effective. Mine are 3 yrs old ands still preform without any loss noticed by me.

If you are looking for a car tire by far the best tire I have had is the
Nokian Hakkapeliitta 4 studded...

Nokian Vatiiva

I'm on my third set and there a great all around tire for everything. There great in the winter with a polaris in the back and pulling a trailor. They have hakasiping, the same as there real good winter tire. They suck in mud, awsome at high speed, rain, and exceptional in the winter. I got 50000 out of the last pair.

i found a set by kumho, the name alone sold me:) they are a studded only tire, with a factory type siping molded right into the tread.

Well, I got to really try my new Toyo MT's yesterday in some DEEP snow, over the bumper on my Dodge. They totally impressed me, I couldn't believe how it just kept going and going. I definitely would have needed chains with old tires.

Woot woot.... them shoes on my steed too....

cooper discover m&s and i run the studded--pulled 27 enclosed up --14a on a sheet of ice with no chains--i sell tires and have found nothing better snow or ice

Listen to this guy I have the same tires and they are un stopable in the snow. I have toyota tacoma and when i have the sled in the back i rally the poop out of it and no slipping at all. Great stopping also. Don't run they in the summer though. Best all year tire is the cooper mt or the toyo mt, they work great sipped in the snow.

Another Vote for Nokian here. I am on my second set of the Vatiiva's on my Tahoe (SUV), got 60 thousand out of the first set. Traction like no other. I have the Toyo AT on my F250, which were good when new, but wear down too fast.

They make the Vatiiva now in a 10 ply, considering getting for my F250, they have in a 275/70/18 (stock wheels). They are $1600 for the set though...This would definitely be my first choice.
