For those who run winter wheels and tires

Just put Blizzaks (10 ply) on my Dodge 2500 Diesel. My first winter tires ever and now i will never go back. Ran procomp xtreme A/T's and they sucked.

The change was a world of difference

Hola Freak. Nephew and I have Matching new Tundra's with the same Tire and wheel pkg for summer. I mounted dedicated siped SNOW and ice tires factory sized on my stock rims and I am psyched how well it does. He stayed with his big 33's AT's and he is all over the road. His words! I did studded on my Mega Cab but these new snow tires are so good that studs are not needed here. I live at 8000 feet and our roads always suck. Winter = snow tires. And I tow ALL winter on frozen mt roads

This is the first year I have dedicated rims and tires for the winter. Fully siped and studded artic claws from Big O on the stock rims. Can't believe I waited sooo long to do this? Great traction and unbeatable stopping power. Can get into most places in 2WD but once you get all four tires spinning its almost unstoppable!

Freak what application are you looking for? size, lift, rim offset are all helpful to actually recommend a tire.Everyone has the best lol until they drive something else!!

My Toyo Mud's almost left us in the parking lot yesterday. Luckily we were at the cabin, so I left the sleds and brought the trailer home empty.
Parking lot only had 4" of heavy snow with frozen ground. Definitely need to find a better tire for a 20" wheel.

Freak - the company that gives me a pay check every month will buy me and 17 others dudes any tire we want, money is no concern in the name of safety

Most of us agree the TOYO open country A/T is the best for ice and snow, but this tire will not last long in the summer....

Cooper now makes a (TOYO open country A/T) knock off tire thats is a bit harder in rubber composite so it will last a bit longer, ive had this tire for 2-3 months and its working great

I had continental 285s that were a winter tires but they were marginal at best and now that they are 50% worn they suckarse. I need a 10 ply and would like to be between 265 and 285.

Maybe I'm old school, but I like the BFG All-terrain for a light truck and the Michelin M/S for an E 10 ply. Nice all-arround tires that get decent traction in snow but are still liveable on the highway. Last a long time, too.

But maybe you're looking for something more hardcore ...

I just put a set of Toyo MTs on and they seem real nice so far. Had them in the snow a couple times and they dig pretty good. I've been using BFG ATs and they are pretty good but I wanted more tread this time. They are pretty expensive though.

Hey Ray:
Is this the tire you speak of?????

I had Toyo A/T's on my Titan now I'm lifted and rolling on 35x12.50x20 Toyo M/T's and have no complaints. This is my second winter on them and they have 25,000mi. on them with the expected wear, but I have really been pleased with them. Also in the summer I tow ALOT and they have held up really well to the abuse towing puts on them. Overall i would say they are worth the coin.

P.S. (on my IFS Titan I had my alignment cams slip when i first had it lifted and it ate my front two M/T's in about five hundred miles, the shop that lifted it did not torque them properly and waranteed the tire so no big but on the Toyo's proper alignment is mandatory for good wear mileage.)

Freak if you want aggressive the Toyo M/T is hard to beat. But running these on ice is like driving on 4 hockey pucks.Siping and studding is a must for any tire that is a offroad lug tire, having that wishy washy feeling with the backend after siping can happen with a open tread design. If you were running a Continental I assume it was not aggressive and I have never yet seen a Conti that was a great tire.If you are looking at winter/ice traction then they are right you can't beat a true winter tire(BSTN W965-comes in your sizing).I may be old school too but BFG All Terrian has a winter rating (few all seasons do) and it is a good all around tire. The other tire that I love has to be the BFG Commercial Trac-not a fancy tire but excellent traction, studable and decent mileage.I have never had anyone not like this tire. Make sure with studding you stud all 4 not just the rear-you have to turn and stop too!! Take it or leave it JMO-keep the shinny side up!

The reason I said for those who run winter tires is because I want a true winter tire. All terrains do ok but I change my tires and wheels every 6 months so I might as well have a true winter. Im convinced the Blizzak is the best winter tire in the world but they don't make it in a 10 ply. I will prob end up with the Cooper M&S as wyomingta suggested, maybe even with studs. Discount quoted me 170/tire for a 265 10ply.

x3 on the Cooper M&S. I've run lots of studded tires and these are hands down the best I've tried.

I run the Toyo M-55 siped in the stock size 10 ply for my for diesel and love them.. second set and wouldn't get anything else..
