its not perfect up here in canada but u guys need a health care plan like us.We dont worry bout this crap.greed has taken over.I remember my friends sister was finishing her schooling as a radiologist and was offered close to a million a year to start in the states.Up here she would get 250000 at best to start.

Auto insurance companies have fixed prices and tehy tell you what they will pay you froa certain job. We turn alot of insurance work down because it's not worth our time to sell at cost and make $20 an hour on labor

No different in health care. Insurance companies tell the Dr what they will pay for a certain procedure. Hence my earlier comment - the way around this is to jack up the "facility charges" which many doctors are part owners of in conjunction with many other doctors. Another income stream for the physicians. If you think your average family practice doctor in rural america is making more the 200k, I'll bet you are mistaken but I could be wrong.

Are there no physicians on this board to comment on this?

That would be like getting someone with a dragon to say that the XP is better, or vice versa.

I was trying to say that it's the facilities that are making the money, and it's the lawyers with greedy clients that are puttin' the wood to us all.

I was just making the parallel between the auto insurance industry and the medical insurance industry in that last post.....

Either way - I'm afraid this wall street mess is just the beginning. Now that the bailout precedence is being set, hold on to your ankles.

His costs have got to be through the roof, not including what he has to pay for malpractice insurance.

I've read countless article after article that the ones who are are really driving up the cost of medicine and doctors and whatnot are the lawyers who will sue at the drop of a hat, and this has forced the insurance companies to charge outlandish premiums, which has forced doctors to charge outlandish prices.

So ultimatley, go figure, the lawyers are at fault. Who would have thought that?

I've noticed more than a few comercials lately about filing suit for all kinds of health related issues....an industry all by itself. While there is nobility in helping someone who's been wronged especially if a death occured, I always think of greasy lawyers like the good senator from SC, John Edwards who made millions off the tabacco suits. Wonder how the clients made out?
Mr. Big shot senator recently made a bid for Potus all the while cheating on his wife who was suffering with cancer, why doesnt that surprise me?

doctors should be one of the highest paid professions in the world. The have a tough job.

This is a really dumb thread. The insurance companies rake in your premiums and don't pay crap. If you think body shops are raking in the big bucks from insurance hjobs think again. Working at an auto glass shop my whole life and dealing with body shops every day you actually see what the insurance companies do.

Teacher's should be the highest paid profession in the world.

I totally understand that the insurance companies are ripping us off as well. It is all part of the medical cost disaster that is coming.

It's a dumb thread until this happens and everybody says why did anybody tell us this was going to happen.

It really does'nt matter where the money is going. The fact is it's to much money and has to collapse at some point.

no one has mentioned credit card debt, which is probably way more than our national deficit

oil is climbing, with our falling dollar and global oil market it will snowball
