For all the Polaris/ Klim lovers out there!

So, if Yamaha had purchased Klim I suppose that the Klim gear would be too heavy for some people. Klim has been a big part of the sport for a long time, give things a chance before the bashing starts.

Why did Klim sell out to Polaris ? They have a great product and great customer service . Was Klim hurting for customers or just a slow economy . I am just trying to figure out why the merger .

Expanded horizons I'm sure. Now Klim is in charge of manufacturing polaris gear too, which is good for us because klim is already awesome so hopefully they can make polaris gear just as well!

Plain and simple.

Klim STAYS KLIM.

They are now owned by a parent company.

Wholey owned subsidiary.

Klim will not be in charge of other lines that Polaris will maintain.

You are not going to see KLIM putting Polaris Logos all over their gear... That would take away from the mass market value of an exceptional, "bar raising" product line.

Polaris Industries bought KLIM because they were successful and make quality products... just like they bought SwissAuto.... and didn't mess with their success.

Geeze, you guys can be worse than a knitting-circle of blue haired ladys! LOL

Well, I love my Klim gear, and currently quite happy with my Polaris rec vehicles, so good luck to both companies in this merger.

I think we will benefit from the increased funding available to Klim for the developement of new products .....

Maybe the glueing process from Klim will spill over to the Polaris engineers and make a driveshaft that won't come apart/ be waterproof / and breath--- but mostly live!!!!!!
:hurt:

Until Kim wakes up and starts offering jackets in TALLS for us guys with long arms, Ill keep rocking my motorfist products.Thank you motorfist. Kim, please?

Well, if the letters P, O, L, A, R, I, S are all over the clothing you sell, you limit the potencial customers you can sell to. If they came up with their own "generic" brand, they would have to compete with KLIM's large market share. So, why not just buy them. I just see it as another easy way to make money. They will have the KLIM line in all their stores, plus the other good sled maker stores, plus all the other motor sports stores. Sounds like a good idea to me with little work involved.

Being from Seattle and seeing how Boeing has aquired and aquired and aquired companies I know how these things go. I have been through to many to count. This line is always the same even if the company being bought has all the ducks in a row. "We won't change them at all" they always say.

When the big fish swims in you don't change the course of that fish.

I know folks that have worked at Klim and some that still do from when I come to Island Park to ride. I grew up in Blackfoot. So this is addressed to them.

I know what they are thinking. Even though they have said nothing to me yet negatively about the takeover. It shows their honestly and willingness to give it a shot. I have been right where they are at 3x.

After all the statements form Polaris on how they won't swallow Klim.

Just listen to this quote from them in the press release:

"We are excited to welcome KLIM employees into the Polaris family. With our common culture and vision, we believe this will be a mutually beneficial partnership for everyone involved.”

The Polaris family has adopted a family (klim folks) that will ultimately BE the Polaris family, culture and way. Overnight you went from family owned. to the boss SOLD the company and you to Polaris. It's like your dad coming home and saying here's your new mom to some degree.

Boeing announced our takeover via EMAIL!! laughable and disgusting. I hope it wasn't the case with you.

KLim and Polaris have "common culture and vision" Really!!

A small family owned and run company that proudly says they were just 2 days ago, is now overnight a family member of a corporation What could be more the exact opposite! I am sure klim employees were shocked and just overwhelmed with what to think. They are not alone sadly with thousands of US companies and real people have had this happen to them. With all the best intentions there.

I know small town folks don't know what it is like when a corporation takes you over. I have been there in a take over. The words of you not loosing your way and being "stand alone" are nice to have Polaris say. But by thier own words and but COUNTLESS other takeovers you are now "family".

You are family Till Polaris suspends funding for specialized projects or a new CEO enters or new head of whatever changes their vision and courser for you. Maybe the next guy isn't an aquistion guy? Maybe he is build the brand Polaris like is what normally happens. These risky CEOs that come in like this Polaris guy are the exception. If you know Boeing, look at how different CEOs constantly changed the culture to theirs.

What if the owner of Klim just left and a new guy came in?? It is no different then when management changes at the top with Polaris. They will change course as management changes. You have had the same boss for several years who ow answers to his boss at Polaris. It's that simple really.

I would tell Klim employees to truly trust their gut. Stand for what they know to be true in and tread lightly. Be careful and trust NO ONE that tells you they have your best interest. Trust your familys best interest.

The boss may have been able to look you in the eye before and keep a promise but is now an EMPLOYEE of Polaris and being ran by their culture and budgets. No matter how good of a guy he is (which sounds like he IS truly an American wonder story)

He sold the company. All of it. Including you if you work there. Paychecks will come from Polaris. The buyout is mostly a huge payout to the boss. Like always. I am sure the buyout came with little for you if any, form the buyout.

Contracts will be signed I am sure to keep you there and promises and pennies will be left for you in the end. Your soul is now Polaris. Call a Polaris employee, when they will really talk, to see how they like Polaris. Call ANY large corporation and 90% will tell you the backbiting and cut throat culture that exisits. you survive at a corporation NOT thrive. There will be a night and day difference on how you feel about Klim.....you WILL BE that Polaris family. They are telling you right now form the press release.

PLEASE protect you own livelhood FIRST!

I have suffered enough through these takeovers. I just want to let Klim folks know that to do the best for you and you family above all else before they do.

I did'nt. And paid the price. I have moved 2x and had to put my wife through hell. just be careful....

It will definitely be interesting to see how things shake out. Polaris is consistently looking at broadening it's company through all kinds of partnerships and acquisitions and this is no different. That is just big business and corporate America.

For the guys that are skeptical, give it a chance. Obviously, Polaris purchased Klim for a reason..............quite simply it's a great product, that sells and a lot of people believe in Klim. I am one of those people and look forward to the possibility of bigger and better. I don't think they'll come in and make a bunch of changes to a company that does well and quite frankly is one of the best, if not the best.

As Long as they continue to turn out a great product that they stand behind, I'll be a customer and continue to support them.

On a side note,

1997 Polaris started Victory motorcycles.

2005 Polaris bought into and became a partner with KTM.

2011 Polaris acquired Indian Motorcycles.

2012 Polaris announced joint venture with Eicher Motors,

2012 Polaris acquires Klim

These are just the ones I could think of, off the top of my head.

NOTHING will change, Klim will stay Klim and Polaris will stay Polaris. No co-branding, no elimination of Klim, no pricing increase. Polaris approached Klim, Polaris wants to build a better garment for the OEM clothing consumer and Klim needed a bigger "BANK" as they grow. To me it's a win/win, Klim can move forward with expanding their line of products and Polaris has access to Klim's garment building expertise. Nobody will lose their job and Klim's day to day will continue as normal. Rigby ID, will be a booming metropolis in the coming months and years with Polaris moving their entire clothing development group there. Polaris will be creating a lot of jobs in that area and I'm sure Klim will be hiring as well.

The only real change is taking place on the business side of things which will not effect either company in a negative way.

IF YOU DONT LIKE THE MERGER, THEN DONT BUY THE PRODUCT. FOR THE REST OF US, WE WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT TWO GREAT COMPANIES. LOOK FORWARD TO THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS:bounce:!!!
