Footwell screen kit??

For those of you that may not know, the new Pro-RMK chassis will not hold a line on its side while going 40 on asphalt around a corner...

Riley-love your avatar but it's putting a bad image in my subconscious....I used to have more pleasant thoughts about "just do it". Now instead of girlie images all I see is a black guy taking a leak:brokenheart:

Ron, in your current state of age I understand that you may have heightened senses reguarding this situation...I think I may have fixed the issue....Is this better?

Does anyone have a snow screen for the footwell on the clutch side rode in the pow today and hard left hand turns snow coats the clutch and its not from the vent kits need ideas

Maybe the stock upper side panel vents are letting snow in? I think I'll cover mine with prefilter from the inside!

Have FUN!

then u are an isolated case cause form the sounds of it NO one else is having this issue.

I have had the same problem. The snow is coming thru the foot well. When you turn hard to the left to the point that the snow is piling up in front of your body, the clutches start to slip. After it happened I looked into the clutch area and it was full of snow.

gman06: I took off all the HRP vents on the clutch side and applied the SLP fabric to the inside of them and re-installed. While the side panel was warm and in my garage I popped off the upper stock vent and covered it with the fabric too as you suggested.

I had no problems yesterday riding in powder and carving to the clutch side and actually trying to push powder in the foot well.

plumbpowder: Snow maybe coming in the footwell but I found it to never get to the clutches. I don't think a screen to help keep the snow out is a bad thing. An ounce of prevention..... as the saying goes.

Holtz Racing Products: You need to apply some material or finer screen to your venting on the clutch side. Sorry but the snow is "cheese gratering" in when the sled is laid over on the clutchside carving donuts.

To everyone: This is the best damn sled I have ever owned. I can't get the smile off my face. I hope everyone else as happy as I am.

The other night I noticed a little sliver of light on the ground on the RH side of the sled just outside the RH ski. I put my hand on any source of light I thought would be obvious. It turns out that the light comes from between the fender and the side panel just above the shock. This would be a path for snow to enter the plastic on the RH side and symmetry would suggest the LH side may have the same issue? The other snow inlet on the LH side is the venty thing inthe side panel and the hood openings. Every time it snows, I get slipping clutches until it warms up and melts away. I've yet to get slipping belts in deep flour snow but that doesn't mean anyone else isn't having issues. Just relating my experiences so far.

I think that Chris Burandt has been having the same issues on his sled(s)....

He has been looking for a screen kit for this area too.

It definately comes in from the footwell area. I have HRP vents and they are letting some snow in, but I noticed especially going down hill to sidehilling to the left, the snow would build up and "fall" onto the secondary clutch when going downhill, when trying to turn back uphill, cutches would slip bad to the point of stopping sled. Resulting in getting stuck a couple times. So footwell is a HUGE problem, HRP vents are a little of the problem. This should be a "POLARIS" fix and not for us to figure out/pay for.

Are you referring to the footwell area or the gap in fender to body from the previous poster?

The footwell area looks to be an obviously vulnerable area for snow injestion and not suprised to hear reports of clutch wetting.

I am still finalizing the design and dimensions as I just got the sled a couple weeks ago.

I have heard a couple different theories about what to do for this footwell and am thinking of offering two options. Option 1, would have some slots or holes to allow venting and Option 2 would be completely blocked off to prevent any snow to get through. With Option 2, it would be required to run additional vents like side panels vents or the Holz console vents which are just above the footwell area.

What are your thoughts?

I had this issue with my Dragon. I ended up using the plastic type vent screen you buy at Home Depot that a lot of guys use to make vents with. I cut out and zip tied the screen vent to the footwell areas on both sides inside the engine compartment. Never had any snow ingestion issues into the clutch or Can area after that. Did it "look" stock? No but it did its job and you could never tell it was even there just by looking at the sled while it sits. Not sure if it will work the same on the Pro, but it might be worth a shot for some of you, not to mention damn cheap...

Option 1 IMO

I think the more air that can exit that location the better. I think Polaris designed the hood vents and the footwell vents to channel the cold air past the clutches and pipe drawing heat away from those areas and then pushing the warm air out near your feet.
If it is totally blocked off I think it would block off an important piece of that air channeling. I know you mentioned option 2 would require additional vents which I plan to use but, still would like the flow out the footwell. JMO
