Floe or Triniton - What trailer to buy?

I am going to buy a new trailer.

Trinitron is $200 cheaper, are there any reasons to buy the Floe?

Thanks
Charlie

I've never owned a Triton, but I can vouch for the Floe (in my experience anyway). I've had my Floe for about 3 years, and it seems to be really well built. I have the 2-place open with front ramps/shields...

Triton Prestige

I really like my Triton Prestige enclosed trailer, but I hear Floe's are good also.

I have a Floe, and I would not buy another one.

If you get a floe, you might as well try to get them to throw in a torch.

That is what you will need to get the track thawed out enough to get your hold-down into the grooves. Ask anyone that has had a Floe, an they will tell you the same thing.

Another really annoying this about this trailer is the tilt mechanism. On mine (Which is about 8-10 years old), the mechanism that holds the trailer from tilting, gets frozen on from the road spray. AGAIn, you need a torch to thaw it out before you can get it to move.

I would either get a Triton or a SledBed...........

I see you're from Brookings.

Give Rich a call at 605-794-2131 (Toronto)

He & Vickie support our sport real well, & he stands behind what he sells!

Triton Elite 2 place open 12'

Absolutely rocks for an open trailer.

Two thumbs up.

I had a Triton XT 10' tilt deck with the aluminum shell. The trailer main frame cracked behind the rear axle.

I now have a Triton Elite 12' (square nose, tilt) with the Fast Enterprises fiberglass shell. The frame is heavier under the elite and the visibility with tilted in sidewalls is far superior. I am very happy with the entire unit.

Triton trailers ROCK! I've owned 2 so far and they have been perfect!
One of the best built trailers on the market, all aluminum construction and all of the wiring in a complete harness, no scotch locks on Tritons!
If you ever burn out a bulb, you just unplug the old one and plug in a new one! They tow absolutly fantastic. Buy the Triton! You'll be glad you did!

Really I've never needed more then a brush and a breath of air to get the groove open. Also never had troubles with the tilt bed freezing shut, but it's only 4-5 years old. Only real complaint is how messy it is to get in and grease teh hubs on the wheels.

Now you want a reason, how about your supporting my home town when you buy Floe. No matter what else I think of Floe as a person(to long to type, also I could get the fordy treatment), ya gotta respect a guy who had every teacher in high school thinking he was gonna be working for 10 bucks an hour and now he builds some might fine trailers as well as lifts and docks.

Like I said though, buy Floe and support the town of McGregor MN, pop 404.

X Rated:

I have a reason to support Floe and it is not the trailer.

Wayne Floe owns a piece of Pier 65, I frequent that place quite often.
that is how I will be supporting thew Floes as apposed to buying the center track open 2 place.

I keep my 2 place out in the open, so it snows all over it. When I go and shovel it off to put my sled on there, I need about 10 minutes with a torch to get the groove open enough to put the tie down into it.

Unless they have changed the design of how the tilt mechanism is held down, the design sucks and should be changed to how Triton and Sled Bed does it.....

Now don't get me wrong, Floe makes some extremely good docks, I have aboutr 70 feet of dock at the cabin with their name on it and the dent in my check book to prove it. I am up at Sandy Lake all the time, and stop in at Fishermans, and Hillcrest and Red Rock, but they need to do some redisgning if they have not already.......

Hey where are you on Sandy? I grew up on Warner's Point over on Minnewawa, may have to hook up for beers. I'm a Fishermans or even Red Rock guy and Banns most times.

Me I will support him through docks/lifts and even trailers. just never had troubles with the sled hauler sitting out. I do love how light and easy the docks are though.

I don't really like to support him at the Pier though. He has really done a horse chit job on that place. Plus I tried to talk with Wayne himself this last year about a idea for the Pier/local area to bring in money. No for sure thing but he could have made 5-10g's in one weekend with this idea(i talked with other guys who had doen this and had similar numbers). But apparently he is too good to talk with local folks anymore, or the other people running the Pier with him think he is, cause I got no where. But that may just be me thinking his chit smells just like every other McGregor boys does.

Sorry for ranting there, he does make some fine products...like I said we have been lucky with our trailer, but I can see the tilt lock being a pain.

$200 diff on what model? Rember triton has the less expensive xt models that do not have a adjustable ski tie down area. The decking on this model may not be channel set like the Elite or the Floe trailers. I have floe that is 9 years old. Only issue I have had was the pig tail on electrical, and mine is the ramp style, and the bold in the back that holds the ramp pushed thru.

Both are good trailers and will not go wrong with either one

I have an Aluma and it has been great to me. Drive on/off 12' with 13" tires. The great thing about an Aluma is that it is the only trailer with a 5 year warranty (others are less).

I have owned a Triton for 3 years now and love it. It is the 20 footer model XT20-101!! I bought it used. The only problem I have with it is that you need to park the tow vehicle at a slight turn to get the sleds to off load without hitting the bumper. I would have also opted for the disk brakes instead of the drum ones.

Take your $200 your going to save and invest in some SuperClamps, that will end the tie down hassles forever!

Any idea why the Triton frame cracked? I've hauled 3 sleds on my XT10 (2400 miles total) and it held up. I've had it 8 years and very happy so far.
