Flat tops conditions?

Thinkin about headin up to the flattops from coffee pot tomorrow. Anyone been up there from this direction over the weekend? Any info on conditions? Thanks

We were up there Saturday and Sunday. The snow is getting better for sure but the obstacles are just below the snow still. I think the rocks are just bigger on the flattops! lol

Rode there on 2/17 had maybe 8" of fresh on top of about 4' of no base. Getting a lot better but plenty of obstacles out there still.

Spent 3 days riding the TOPs

The Mile Hi Club had our annual Coulter Lake ride in/out 3 day ride (24-27th) and the conditions were good enough that rocks/stumps were not an isssue.

The snow is gaining a base but high winds and full sun made for interesting riding. Little Box Canyon is thin and the Rifle Club has done an excellent job grooming making the best of an unusually thin year.

I was up yesterday. Great snow in the trees but the open areas are still very exposed. Coffee Pot was terrible. We parked in the lower lot and road on dirt in the sunny areas. Sled is still full of mud/dirt. You might be able to drive up to the top lot but I wouldn't do it with my trailer. It could get sketchy.

Dont know go up from that dotsero I believe it is off the interstate. Come out there with beergut and stay in eagle

TTT, might be going Wed. curious how far up we can drive, anyone know where the current parking is at ?

I was there yesterday, you will want to drive up to where they park the groomer. The snow from the last storm has set up pretty well but you can still find good powder. The wind has moved the snow around quit a bit so the open parks are hard and there are a lot of rocks in these areas but there is still a lot of good riding to be had.

By now I'm sure there are a couple bare spots above the groomer lot but it's really the only option. The worst spots will be within a half mile from the lot.

Is that the bootom lot your talking about or the one up above??

The Flatops are separated into 2 distinct areas--west out of New Castle and Rifle and east out of Dotsero, separated by Blair Mtn. West average elevation = 9,500', east 9,000' so the snow conditions are not the same.
