Flat thrust bearings

I received my new planetary from diamond drive yesterday. I knew the price was to good to be true. I thought I was getting the entire planetary gear. Part number 24 on the parts diagram below. My question is, inside the planetary gear there are a couple of those flat pin bearings. does any one know where I can buy just those bearings? I bought a bearing kit from black diamond but of course they don't come with those. Thanks

Were those needle bearings damaged? Normally all you need is the planetary gear (not assembly) which makes rebuilding the DD much cheaper. Just clean them up and make sure they roll smoothly. I just rebuilt my M1000 DD and all I needed was the planetary gear from BDX (which you have) and bearing #25.

Below is the breakdown for the planetary assembly. Which parts do you need? As far as I know, the only place you can get them is BDX, or have them tell you what make/model they are.

Where did you find that parts diagram? Thats exactly what I was looking for. The bearing that I need is #2. One of the bearings on mine looked like it had been crushed. The cage was coming apart. I will call Black Diamond and see if they sell just that bearing.
Thanks

I got the diagram from BDX when I was putting mine back together. They should be able to help you out. Hopefully it is a common bearing that can be found at a local auto parts store.

I talked to black diamond and the guy that picked up said they didnt sell the bearing and he didnt know a bearing #. Does any one know where I can get one of these? I am supposed to leave for island park on friday.

Try calling local AC dealers and see if any of them have any wrecked reverse DD's that you could steal parts from. I am sure there are a PILE of broken mechanical reverse DD's laying around haha.

Good idea. Thanks

I've got a gear sitting here, I'll go see if any of those bearing are ok, if so you can have them for price of shipping.

Can one of you guys take some measurements of the bearings so we find and aftermarket source?

1.383" cage ID, 2.03" cage OD, .076" Diameter x .235" length needle bearings, Cage measures .071"-.073" thick, 40 bearings total.

Looks like it is a Timken (formerly Torrington) NTA-2233 needle thrust bearing. The dimensions on Timken's site are:

Bore: 1.377"
Outside Diameter: 2.062"
Width: 0.0781"
Number of rollers: 40

It can be bought here for $2.59: http://www.wbds.com/htm/NTA2233-Tim.htm

Maybe NAPA stocks them? or has another bearing that cross references with it?

bearing

you can go to any industrial supply and get that bearing most auto also you just have to have a counter person that knows more than what book or computer tells him

Is that the new planetary you bought from bdx? I can't find it on their site but have been waiting for it, if so what did they change? Whats the price? and can you let me know how it works out for ya when you have run it for a bit. THX

Is it the new planetary that does away with those brass shims? BDX said it would be spring before it was out but that is what i'm waiting for....
