So I've got a crack on each side of my hood from bouncing off trees. They arent huge but I was just wondering what I could do to close them up so they dont get too much worse. I was thinking using a soldering gun on the inside of the hood might work?? I definately dont wanna zip tie it though

Stop-drill both ends with a drill bit to stop it from going further and then use wire to sew it together like stitches at the ER. Me, I lower myself to zip-ties. They work great and give the hood a story to tell!

I have used the 2 part epoxy, it comes in 2 tubes and you push the plunger and it dispenses them both at the same time. They make a version for plastic that has a breaking strength at around 3500psi. You can get it at Napa or an auto store like that. I just took the die grinder and went inside the hood and ground the crack into a v and filled it in. And since it is on the inside of the hood you can rough up the plastic farther out from the crack so that it has more to hold. it should do the trick for you.

I have done the same thing works great!!!

got about an 8in crack in mine. went to the auto body store and got the lord fusor 143 for tpo plastic, adhesion promoter, mesh backing, and surface cleaner prep. rang it up came to over $100 after the special gun left it on the counter and walked out. could probably get an autobody shop to doit for me for that much. think i'm going to try the two part epoxy first and see if it works.

the epoxy works pretty darn well and will look the best from the outside. if you want it to hold forever and don't mind a little more work i use flat sheets of alluminum really thin, and cut a strip off your sheet and rivet it on the back side of the hood. use 1/8, 5/32 or 3/16 rivets and paint them to match you hood color, sitck them into cardboard and let them dry. then rivet through the hood and through the aluminum on each side of the crack. imo it looks a hell of lot better than using zip ties. i rode w/ a guy that had his windshield done w/ zip ties and i said bring your sled to my shop if you want to ride w/ me again and i'll fix your wdshield w/ o zip ties, if you want to ride w/ me again. lol
